Hi,

First post. We have ordered a 2022 252SE. The deal jacket is showing a $5500 dealer prep fee. I am totally balking at that along with the huge increase in price. We've put our deposit down, but not thrilled about that prep fee. What are others paying out there for dealer prep for 2022 25' models?

Thank you for your responses.

Can you buy your boat from another dealer out of state? To mitigate those fees I would drive quite some distance.

Spoke with 3 dealers in the Midwest before I put down on an AR250, all were within 3-4K

Cycle Springs is charging $599 for dealer prep and $1,650 for freighter a 2022 252SD

$4000 less in dealers fee’s makes taking a road trip from just about anywhere in the country feasible and still be money ahead.

the difference for me would be:

prep fees: $5500 vs $599. Savings of $4901

freight: $1950 vs $1650. Savings of $300

Total savings: $5201.

Time to find a new dealer.

$4000 would pay for my gas from Pennsylvania/Delaware to Clearwater and a week's rental of a small house in the Keys. What a great place would that be to break in a new boat! :winkingthumbsup"

That’s s what I’m talking about!

Looks like $3,365 in total dealer costs (including cover) for the AR195 I've been looking at.

I didn’t get the official breakdown but some OTD prices that I got were as follows:

SX210 $52,019
212S $66,719
SX250 $67,719
AR250 $71,019
252S $85,619

my 2021 255xd was 2450 prep and delivery. BUT....

My boat was total 97k out the door including tax, i also had the 2 piece snap cover/install coast guard kit added. My original breakdown when i first ordered the boat was itemized showing 2450 prep/delivery 399 coast guard kit, 1250 snap cover/install. I also have the galvanized trailer. My actual invoice wheni picked boat up showed boat discounted to 90k and trailer 3k, 93k plus tax 249 doc 174 reg fees.

That is not cool at all. I would tell dealer off and go find somewhere else.

Did you consider possibly a used one, a 2021? Could save yourself maybe 15k give or take. I see this one and you could probably knock it down a couple few grand. And no sales tax. Of course it is far from you, but with no changes except color they are the same boats. There may be some around you.

Is shipping really $4100 on a 25' boat to Texas? My guess is its 1,000 miles and can they load 2 boats on a trailer?

Does Yamaha charge a flat rate or a regional rate for shipping?

Jim

I wouldn't mind a used one. And I wouldn't mind driving either.
I'll think about it tonight. I feel like the dealers are taking advantage of the situation and this is something that bothers me much more than the amount of money itself. Thanks for the feedbacks.
