This thread went days without a post. I was wondering if everyone was frustrated with trying to change each other’s minds, or if the anti-vaxers all died from covid? Or if the pro-vax crowd are all paralyzed from the vaccine? Those are the only options that could happen, based on what I’ve learned from this thread. Is the booster a good option for someone over 50, but still looks handsome and young? Asking for a friend. He doesn’t want his conservative friends to know he’s vaccinated, and doing fine.
Booster shot recommended for handsome 50 somethings for sure. Sorry, typing with my nose as my arms don't work anymore

Are adverse reactions to the COVID-19 vaccine recordable on the OSHA recordkeeping log?
DOL and OSHA, as well as other federal agencies, are working diligently to encourage COVID-19 vaccinations. OSHA does not wish to have any appearance of discouraging workers from receiving COVID-19 vaccination, and also does not wish to disincentivize employers' vaccination efforts. As a result, OSHA will not enforce 29 CFR 1904's recording requirements to require any employers to record worker side effects from COVID-19 vaccination at least through May 2022. We will reevaluate the agency’s position at that time to determine the best course of action moving forward.

The purpose of this rule (part 1904) is to require employers to record and report work-related fatalities, injuries, and illnesses.

Basic requirement. You must consider an injury or illness to be work-related if an event or exposure in the work environment either caused or contributed to the resulting condition or significantly aggravated a pre-existing injury or illness. Work-relatedness is presumed for injuries and illnesses resulting from events or exposures occurring in the work environment, unless an exception in §1904.5(b)(2) specifically applies

Vaccine isn’t work related, why would an employer have any interest or obligation in monitoring that for the government

When you are FORCED to have the vaccine by your work - yes it is work related.

Sort of, but that doesn’t mean we should place even more burdens on companies when there is already a nationwide system for monitoring adverse reactions to the vaccine.

I thought maybe we could all just have a good laugh on a Friday before the weekend starts. I didn’t realize I was chumming up the sharks again. Plus we all need to take Tabbious a few meals until he recovers from vaccine side effects. He’s currently typing with his nose like a slightly better Stephen Hawking. Now I know why he was trying to get someone to help him change his oil. Tab, if you can get the oil siphoned with your nose, I’ll change the filters for you.

Yikes! What a bad decision that will just add fuel to the fire.

Log any vaccine side effects with your Physician. If you want...send an email to your HR - nothing stopping you. Your Doctor should update VAERS - not your employer. (you can too if you want).

It’s not a bad decision on its own. If you don’t read what the rule is and you put your brain in conspiracy mode to think this means they are hiding adverse reactions then, yes, it will add fuel to a fire even though it has nothing to do with the vaccine.

Companies don’t report your adverse reaction to a flu shot, or tetanus, or whatever else you do outside of work. Strange thing to think private companies should be responsible for.

Again - force me to take something and now you are responsible. If I have to cut down trees for living and cut my hand off with the saw you provide... not sure how that is much different. In either way its just another way out for these companies.

Both of my parents, in their 70s, had the Pfizer booster without any adverse effects. They have felt more comfortable in public settings knowing they have additional protection. The deaths of similar aged friends has made them cautious.

My wife, in her early 40s, had the Pfizer booster which made her tired for a day. She is more comfortable teaching in her classroom but remains extremely cautious as we have a son who needs to be protected from CoVID.

The CDC has recommended an additional dose of any vaccine for anyone who had the J & J vaccine and those who meet certain criteria who had Pfizer or Moderna. COVID vaccine: CDC expands booster rollout, OKs mixing shots

If I was to take a booster I would opt for Pfizer. The Pfizer dosage is less than 1/3rd the strength of the Moderna vaccine. The study data showed that similar percentages of Pfizer and Moderna subjects reported adverse effects. Based on anecdotal reports it seems that the adverse effects are stronger with Moderna. I had Moderna with flu like symptoms for 24 to 36 hours after each dose in January and February.

I know that I could get booster but having had two doses of Moderna I likely have highly beneficial antibody response already and my public exposure is limited. Topping that the virus is on a decline in my state. If cases continue to decline and my exposure level remains low I may wait for the next generation of booster specific vaccines. If I had significant public exposure I would jump on the opportunity to get a booster.

I'm not going to argue one way of the other, but simply wish to point out that there is a pathway for compensation for a serious vaccine adverse event.

While you can't sue a vaccine manufacturer for an adverse event from a vaccine, there is a national Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) that may provide financial compensation to individuals who file a petition and are found to have been injured by a VICP-covered vaccine. Serious adverse events for Covid-19 vaccines are covered under the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program (CICP) that was created so that in the unlikely event that someone experienced a serious injury from a covered countermeasure, they may be considered for benefits. (The CICP is for a vaccination, medication, device, or other item recommended to diagnose, prevent or treat a declared pandemic, epidemic or security threat. )

Has someone forced you to take something or are you just playing devil's advocate?
My wife is being forced to either get her first shot in less than 30 days or lose her job (found out two days ago).... for a mandate that is not even official yet.

As for me, my work just announced we will need weekly testing.

It is frustrating because I would put my boat that our anti-bodies are stronger than 95% of people with a vaccine.

I think we need to realize that vaccination of employees in the workplace is not just for that employees benefit, but for the safety of his/her colleagues and visitors.

With the vaccinations, we have a lot of data on the level and duration of immunity to the Covid-19 virus. I would ask others, if this information we do not have for folks who may have caught the virus and have natural immunity?

My wife who is a dental hygienist just found out the same thing. She works for a federally funded dental office who charges based off people’s income. Good thing no one can find help right now because it took her all of one day to find another job with a very significant raise at a private practice.Baffles me how we as a country are battling a labor shortage by firing people for not getting vaccinated.

Why would they say they might start making companies log it in May 2022 then? I'm sure it's harmless / they were put in a bad spot......It's just a very bad visual and awful wording that is going to allow people to run with that. Just horrendous PR on their part.
