Not surprising at all that a variation of Streptomyces Avermitilis will kill bedbugs.
This is just another example of people posting "studies" in this thread that are posted just to support an Incorrect narrative. No where in this country was treating people with Ivermectin EVER deployed as a treatment for bedbugs.
To limit human subjects’ exposure to the bed bugs, we chose to remove the subjects’ blood and feed it to the insects using an artificial feeding system. Only two subjects were used in the experiments. However, the study did not try to assess the effectiveness of ivermectin in harming bed bugs in individual subjects.
Basically the study showed bedbugs that were artificially fed the blood from 2 people on Ivermectin would die. Again this study was performed on 2 individuals and was never commissioned or offered as a treatment for infestation in this country.
You should delete that misinformation.

I seriously get a kick out of people they think the pharmaceutical industry is altruistic in any shape or form, but then again they probably believe in rainbows and unicorns

Yep, going to work everyday to bring new cancer medicines to patients is a really malevolent thing to do with your life. If I only I could get those big fatcats just take the cancer cure recipe out of their safe.

@Evil Sports, if you circle back a few posts you will see that the bed bug discussion began with an article quoting a doctor stating that bed bugs were the most common reason for prescribing ivermectin. The approved uses are not common in the US. There are many published studies of xenointoxication using ivermectin and articles discussing such use. Such killing of bed bugs would not involve an exterminator and is not something that I would advocate for.

As I said a couple thousand posts ago, this thread is a shit show and should be shut down. It is absolutely divisive, full of politics, and riddled with personal attacks (from many different parties). It does nothing to promote or inform about jetboats, jetboaters, or anything jetboating related. This thread has entrenched camps flinging insults and talking past each other. This thread not only does not add positively to this community, it detracts from it.

This site was founded by individuals (at least in part) seeking to get away from an overbearing and dominant site operator and a few loud individuals that injected politics far too often on another site. Maybe it is time to reflect.

This thread serves no positive purpose. Shut it down.

PS: I do generally ignore this thread, so no need to point that option out. Thanks to all.

You could get the pharma industry to use the 6.4 billion they spent on advertising (in just one year) on even more cancer research. But that might mean going to wildwood and eating at sams pizza for your next all expense paid junket. Probably play only 18 holes at the public course or heaven forbide mini golf on the boardwork. But you probably would prefer Hawaii at the 4 seasons And 36 holes at a minimum. Got several doc’s in the family and am always quite jealous while they are jetting off to the most luxurious of resorts. All it takes is prescribing there favorite little pill while granny is deciding to buy food or medicine this month. :winkingthumbsup":winkingthumbsup":winkingthumbsup"

So you can quote Any DR and its valid and correct information if it follows your personal narrative.
No one was prescribed Ivermectin for Bedbugs in this country and your study concurs. 2 peoples blood was tested to see if Ivermectin would kill Bedbugs systemically. Saying The approved uses are not common in the US tells the real story as not common equals never.
If I learned 1 thing in my life its to admit when Im wrong.

@Evil Sports, I recognize you are obsessed with this so I will offer a few more articles regarding bed bugs and ivermectin.

"Infectious disease specialist Dr. Brobson Lutz says it's for bedbugs and scabies, not COVID." - Infectious disease specialist Dr. Brobson Lutz

“When you’re treating scabies or bed bugs, it’s a 1-to-2-day treatment” - Pharmacist T.J. DePaola

Fortunately I have never experienced bedbugs and poisoning my blood is not how I would want to treat them but it is occurring.

@Tgen2013, feel free to take Hydroxychloroquine if you get Covid again. Me, I'm going for one of the proven Covid treatements, like monoclonal antibodies! :winkingthumbsup"

Jim
I wont get Covid,...........ever. Have had direct fluid contact with three sick individuals with different strains, nothing.

If the goal here is to dispel misinformation why do you keep calling Ivermectin a Horse De wormer when its been approved for human use for 40 plus years.
Ivermectin is a broad spectrum anti-parasitic, with approved uses in animals and humans. The drug was developed in the late 1970s. In humans, ivermectin is indicated for, among other conditions, two neglected tropical diseases, river blindness (onchocerciasis) and lymphatic filariasis.
Yes, agreed. Funny how they try and decry proven safe treatments with excellent safety records. Cheap too.

@Tgen2013, I don't think that there is any way to guarantee that you won't get Covid ever. Have you been tested for Covid? Perhaps you are one of the lucky folks who have gotten the virus, but have been asymptomatic? That would be a very good thing to have happened! :)

In my 40 years as a professional and serving on a national technical committee, I have yet to hear this used as a treatment for bedbugs. People are lumping bedbugs in with scabies incorrectly when bedbugs dont live on the host like scabies. 1 -2 days of treatment might affect scabies which exist on the host but not Bedbugs.

Seemingly yet again you prove your inability to understand how to read research and draw reasonable conclusions. This was a proof of concept experiment, and not meant to act as the basis for prescribing information. Two individuals were given a single dose of ivermectin, and their blood samples were used to feed bedbugs. A single dose left enough residual drug in the participants' blood four days later that it was still enough to measure a statistically significant reduction in population size. So, you didn't understand that, and then to top it off you double down with unreasonableness stating that there's no possible way it could work because bedbugs don't live ON the host, as if they'd need to - they only need to feed on it so as to be exposed to blood containing ivermectin.

FDA recommended Moderna Boosters. Just passing along the info. I know a lot of my patients were wondering this.

No where in 40 years have I seen this prescribed for bedbugs. It's not being offered as a treatment and never was. Please tell me how you have any insight into my industry

I think what @Evil Sports is saying is that from a pest control perspective this isn't something anyone is doing, and even from a real world medical approach, doctors aren't suggesting you get rid of bedbugs by using this drug. Yes....a test was done...but its not something lots of doctors are prescribing it for.

Ivermectin is an anti parasitic. Yes...its a horse dewormer AND human dewormer. CNN wasn't lying when they said Rogan was taking a horse dewormer, but they (and tons of other media outlets) absolutely said it because it was/is far more sensational a headline than "Rogan takes drug that clinical studies show doesn’t work well on Covid but has few side effects when taken in the human dose, so why does it matter?" LOL. They are trying to sell ads not send you to sleep. I find it hilarious that this was the best he could get animated about. He won't sue them because they were accurate....he was taking a horse dewormer. This is why we all need to understand what the Media's primary goal is.....to sell ads and keep you on to watch them! Which is why US Anchors, reporters and weather people are typically all "eye candy" (yes....big stereotype but generally true).

The old newscasters (Cronkite, Len O'Conner etc) read the news. Deadpan. They had 2 other outlets as competition. Everyone was buying space on Network TV. It was the heyday of TV. At my station in the 80s (WGN) AD Execs hired Eye Candy, they were frankly abusive (in multiple ways) to their staff. It was "overlooked" has boys being boys. Just what was done - as they were raking in millions. Then cable came along and competition changed the game. News had to be entertaining and attractive to viewers. If you just READ the news people switched channels. So the "News" today became what it is because of viewers like us. We voted with our remotes and have only ourselves to blame.

In vaccione news.....J&J boosters are now approved....but I am 90% certain I want a Moderna booster (got J&J first). Anyone heard of a study I could be part of for mix and match? I have emailed this study to see if they are looking for participants:

I got this reply from them:
  • If you are interested in NIAID’s clinical trial evaluating mixed COVID-19 vaccine schedules (NCT04889209): right now, this trial is not enrolling any additional participants.
  • If you are interested in participating in another vaccine study, you can add your name to the Coronavirus Prevention Network registry located at: https://www.coronaviruspreventionnetwork.org/
  • All other messages will be responded to or triaged to the appropriate person within NIAID. Due to the volume of emails, response may be delayed.
I signed up!

My wife received her Pfizer booster on Friday. She took a couple of naps during drives to and from a band competition on Saturday. She was back to normal on Sunday.

I am glad to see friendly discussion in this thread today and hope that will continue.

Ive been tested multiple times, Abbott tested, fully vaxed, and a booster. This whole epidemic, and this whole vax conversation is completely dependent on ones general health, immune system more than anything.
Confirmed anti bodies prior to vaxing/booster.

Again though, (prior to vaxing), to be swapping spit with gals with Covid and not getting "sick" is the absolute indicator of "natural immunity".

The whole general health idea is reinforced by the passing of Colon Powell yesterday, who was fully vaxed yet they are reporting his passing as due to Covid complications. Vax or no vax the ultimate arbiter is your own immune system. We all know that is specific to each individual, and something you can not reliably predict. He was 84 I believe. I imagine he had co-morbidities.

If you had the antibodies prior to vaxing, at some point in time you did contract Covid. If you didn't experience any symptoms, then you were asymptomatic. A+ to your immunity system for doing a great job!

The news is reporting that Colin Powell was also battling cancer. I believe that folks with many cancers have a higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19, as they may have a weakened immune.
