2015 242 Limited S First Impressions w/ Pics and Video

New video on the Connext. I did it quickly so its not my best video....

Very cool!!

The videos are always in "float mode". What does it do out of float mode?

I hope @CYCLEsPRINGS will share some install pictures with us someday.

Damnit. I convinced myself I'm not upgrading and now all these videos...

Love that yamaha paid attention to even the small stuff like the paper towel holder. I also really like that they changed the horn! My friends always make fun of the puny buzzer that mine has. It's also starting to fade out. I wonder if I can get the new horn under warranty?

Are the graphics on the 2015s still decals or are they actually in the gelcoat? I'm hoping that they're gelcoat now instead of stickers, especially on the higher line boats.

Great to have another dealer in the ranks, welcome aboard! Loved the write up and detail too. I will have to check out all the videos when I can...headed out today for kayak and snorkeling. Just wanted to stick my head in the door and say welcome and thanks for joining us here!

I can't take it anymore! I need to put myself on a JB.net restriction. Who am I kidding, I dont have that kind of will power. :inpain:

Awesome videos! After seeing that touch screen and knowing it is built by another company and for multiple boats, I am more at ease!

What is the auto blower function?
How far around do the stern storage compartments go? Are they "sealed" as in....if a toy went in there, it wouldn't disappear I assume....???

I love the shot behind the helm! Switching to rack and pinion has eliminated the steering cables sticking into the compartment! Nice!

So many nice touches on this boat....those hinged seats are great!

What is the auto blower function? The auto blower turns the blowers on for 4 mins automatically and shuts them off when the key is first turned to the "On" position

@OrangeTJ "Float mode" is neutral. So the bar graphs show Volume and Depth. When you shift into forward the volume bar will switch to Fuel. Some other things switch over to more useful info when underway.

Still graphics.

It's really kind of lame that the graphics are still stickers. At the 50K+ price point, gel coat graphics seem like more the norm. At least they're fairly subtle graphics. If it were mine, I'd be yanking them off ASAP, just like I did on my SX210.

In hull graphics would be nice, can't deny that. However, it would seriously jack the price of them WAY up. It's meticulous hand work to tape off the molds correctly and when it is not done perfectly it's painfully obvious.

Holy crap!!! it even has a real horn! Great video....thx

I get that it's more labor intensive and I guess the reality is that it doesn't line up well with the more "hands off" manufacturing process applied to Yamahas, but these aren't particularly inexpensive boats anymore. MSRP on many other boats is higher, yes, but it seems that many other "more expensive" boats end up selling for way less than MSRP while Yamaha holds pretty close to full list price. My buddy just bought a brand new Axis T22 for right around $60K and it has in-hull graphics, not stickers. A limited S is just as expensive and I don't see why it should have any lower feature set. That Axis has a KILLER stereo, a tower, automated ballast, perfect pass, surf gate, etc., plus what has to be a more expensive powertrain. Seems odd to me that a $60K boat from Yamaha doesn't have enough space in its build cost to incorporate this much nicer approach to graphics. I suppose its irrelevant if they sell every one they make, though!

None of this is to say that these latest boats aren't extremely nice, but it seems to me that they're moving into a market segment that may be accustomed to a higher level of detail refinement than is conveyed by decal graphics. Just my opinion.
