242 two way radio mounting location

@BBottoms do you have any pictures or information your willing to share on where you placed your antenna?

I think I'm going to mimic your install, but concerned about antenna placement.

I'm out of town for work right now but I'll try to remember to get some pictures this weekend when I'm back at the house. My antenna wire runs up through the tower and I have a Shakespeare Quick Connect Mount attached the the tower with a small hole drilled to allow the antenna to exit. It's all very hidden and factory looking.

Even on an older 2014 this seems to be the mounting location. Get’s it high up for longer transmission distances.F6C1CBE5-4E6F-4FFD-8B76-79FB09534FCA.jpeg3E34C91C-CD29-4BA2-A333-610F4AE346E3.jpeg3CEABCE8-7781-4E37-B2C8-3C58A965D56F.jpegD3935D51-2569-4F7F-A177-93208C30406B.jpeg

Oh, and regarding the radio mounting location...I'm 6'1" and have never hit my legs on it.

Agreed. I'm a bit taller, but never once hit my knee on it.

Properly mounted and bolted. You can see the brackets and holding knobs on the side of the radio the second picture. Fits perfectly in there!

Made a mounting plate for the radio from Starboard to replace the storage cubby. Power feeds from a blue sea distribution block behind the helm. Antenna is mounted on the tower, with wires running inside the tower tube which drops straight down within a few feet of the storage cubby. I used a quick connect antenna but same concept should work with any antenna.
