I've been having this debate with a friend for over a decade. Curious where the JetBoaters.net collective stands on it.

Is it Pecan or Pecan?

Pee-Can or Puh-Khan?

Regardless of where you stand on this clearly important debate I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving day!

If you type the word into the dictionary you have the option to hear how it is pronounced. Too me is sounds like it should be spelled peh-khan.

Picked up a puh khan

if I’m talking about pie I would say pee-can.

I also say the word Caribbean differently with different uses.

If say I’m going to visit the Caribbean I say it one way if I say the cruise ship line Royal Caribbean I say that a completely different way.

It's hard to make sense of it all...After English not being my first language, teaching my kids spelling is fun...."Sight" words (better learned them by sight, because they sure make zero sense)

Why it is said/spelled this way.. Because we are communally crazy and refuse to fix it. It's broke, just memorize it, no it doesn't make any sense, Done.
