Better Floor Locker Door now!

Did the switch out today and works great! Big difference in the opening space and I used your recommended strut from Amazon.
Thanks for posting and your idea!!!
Happy Boating!!

Best $20 I spent on the boat so far and quickest instal. If I go for a 2017 and they have that 3/4 open crap Im dropping off the new strut for the dealer to instal before I take it home.

Greetings all...
This weekend I changed out the Storage locker gas prop for a 19' 39 lb strut. it works great. Takes a minute to swap out.
Ordered on Amazon...sold as a set of two (2).Boat storage strut.jpg

I bought another one (a 17")...and it works but is still about an 1" too long. I must have been drunk when I ordered it as I measured this time and it needs a 16" strut....no F'ing clue why I ordered a 17"....but since it works I'm not ordering a 3rd one! LOL

So, follow up:
My results are spot on with Julian's above, pic and all. 17" is too long on my 2016 AR240, 16 would be perfect.
However; I will trim a little off (maybe 1.5" at a ~22 degree angle) the bottom of the wind block channel and the 17" will not be an issue after that...I believe.
Currently the locker opens and is stopped by the channel prior to the rod fully extending. In fact, I had to push the rod-end down with the door fully open just to get it in position to attach.
Worth the small $ to have this open nearly all the way. MUCH easier to access the contents on the locker. Thanks for the tip gents!

After reading this post, I'm getting all mixed reviews. Lol. So whats the exact length I need for 2016 ski locker? I know there is no wrong answer but it seems everyone here did something different? So is 17" too long or short? And I would like not to remove the already existing brackets. Thanks.

If I remember correctly, I just repositioned my top strut attachment, down a couple inches. It worked great.
I think. I guess I need to find pics, or it did not happen!

It seems there is some play in the placement. Seems 16 is a popular length, but if you measure on your boat you will get the right size for you. Measure the size you wish it had, and order based on that.

I wonder if they're all different lengths. The "under paid over worked " guy who installs just puts it up and screws it in, no measurements required. So one day he may put it at 15" another it may be 18". So I guess the bottom line is, measure your boat and buy accordingly.

Ya it didn't happen. I don't believe it happened. So do I reposition my strut up or down? lol

I can not find pics right now and will need to check inside the boat this weekend.
BUT
I am fairly certain I did not need to replace the strut, just moved the attachment down and inch or two - it now props the hatch lid further up when the strut extends. The strut does not seem to be lacking holding power due to the shortened leverage, that simple mod works very well.
I will double check though, sometimes I forget what I did.

Ok thank you. No rush.

Borrowing Julian's picture here, but that's what I did.

I did what swatski did, free and effective.

This was bothering me last weekend, saw this and ordered, it'll arrive tomorrow.
