Bimini 2014-June 22

My group ranges from mid forties to just shy of 30.

And tequila and margaritas and rum and beer and........ Sounds AWESOME to us. It's gonna be one hell off a trip!

Rum is locally available so we need to find rum drinks that we like. My wife prefers tequila as well but this is a rum trip!

We are mid 30s with a 4 and 7 year old.

Rum Runners for me. Delicious.

Hurricane:
  • 1/2 ounce(s) Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum
  • 3/4 ounce(s) dark rum
  • 3 ounce(s) passion fruit
  • 3 ounce(s) mango juice
  • 2 ounce(s) sweet and sour mix
  • 1 wheel(s) lime
Mojito:
  • 12 whole(s) mint leaves, plus a few extra for garnish
  • 1 1/4 ounce(s) Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum
  • 1 teaspoon(s) sugar
  • 1/2 ounce(s) lime juice
  • 2 ounce(s) soda water
Rum Runner:
  • 3/4 ounce(s) Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum
  • 1/4 ounce(s) blackberry liqueur
  • 1/4 ounce(s) crème de banana liqueur
  • 2 ounce(s) orange juice
  • 1/2 ounce(s) grenadine
  • 8 ounce(s) crushed ice
Strawberry Daiquiri:
  • 1 1/4 ounce(s) Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum
  • 1 3/4 ounce(s) sweet and sour mix
  • 3 ounce(s) frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup(s) crushed ice

Make sure whatever mixers (liquids and fruit) you want use for your drinks you bring because finding something on either on island (North or South) is just about impossible. Liquor on the other hand it is easy to find and cheap. Cindy and I will also be drinking rum and tequila drinks.

Isnt there a limit on the amount of alcohol you can bring with you?

I love that movie... haha I dont have a doctorate, but I do have an MBA. Double majored in undergrad which added time as well.

Are we doing tequila shots or drinking margarita's?? ;)

Oh defiantly shots!!! Lol

There is and it appears to be a pretty small amount. Several members who have been before say that Bimini customs does not check.

The basic rule the customs has told me is that if you can consume it all (or close to all) while in Bimini then you can bring it. Their concern is if you bring something in to sell and not pay taxes on the sale. On both of my trips the customs never left their office.

On another note, I had to take my boat in for issues with the oil coolers. Once in there, they found three other items that needed repair under a recall. They were the dash (which appears to glued and needed to be bracketed), drainage issues (which included the area in front of the dash, but also throughout the boat), and the drain plug. Just wanted to point this out that it may be worth a call to your dealer to see if you have any of these, or other, issues. I would have never known if the oil cooler issue had not shown up. I guess my boat now has a thorough inspection for the trip.....

Good thing it happened now! Holy cow... anyone else going with a 10-11 240?

BTW this trip is stacking up to be very expensive! (All the stuff I am buying to go)

So Far:
  • Transom light (Thanks @Traino)
  • Fixed Bimini bracket
  • New rear filler cushion (Lost it)
  • Crack in Gelcoat fixed near impeller (That sucked!)
  • New Gopro and memory card
  • New VHF radio
  • Locking Ski locker latch
  • Waterproof Safe
Still have some more things to go.... ugh

Just think! The second year you go will be far less expensive!

And

Your expenses do not compare to @tim h! When I had no more room on my boat for him to go, he went out and bought that whopper of a boat to go, had a trailer made for it, needs wide load permits, etc!

Eeek! Its funny how much boat owners cost other people. My boat ownership has caused two people I know to go out and buy one.... crazy!

Congrats to @tim h though... that is one hell of an accomplishment!

I'll have my 12v boat blender along for sure!

MY BLENDER DIED ....EVEN AFTER THAT AWESOME COVER...moment of silence..

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED..

Since we are throw out ages here is ours. @Chrissy my Cindy did the same craddle robbing, I am 51 and Cindy is 55 and in November we will have been married for 25 years. Actually Cindy will be the one called grandma and I grandpa, Cindy's daughter/my step-daughter had her first child in February.

I turn f-f-f-f-fff-fifty the week before the trip....and Barb and I have our 25th next week while I'm fishing off the outer bank.....oops.....might be I don't have to be concerned with Fifty after all !!!.......what could go wrong?

rod holders
LED lights
bumpers
shore power cord
more powerful stereo !

and, and, and

I hope I can afford to go !

My pleasure. Let me know when you get it. Looking forward to seeing it in Ft. Lauderdale.
