Right now it doesn't look good.. think saw some were just canceled through March.Hope that cruise actually happens....will be interesting when the cruise ships start operating again....but perhaps it would be a good time to go as perhaps they won't run the boats full????
Yeah....not sure they'll be operating then....time will tell - will depend on how fast and how effective the vaccine really is. June will likely be right on the edge....perhaps May - since all the spring break cruise traffic will be a huge money maker....assuming people WANT to go....(if I've been vaccinated I probably would)Right now it doesn't look good.. think saw some were just canceled through March.
Might be good time to mention this to wife again
Right, I forgot you got a tanker lolNOPE... I will start with a full tank of 240 gallons.
Only to visit Big John’s restaurant it’s kind of a run down marina I wouldn’t want to leave my boat there long term with amount of traffic that rolls by there you would likely take damage over the week.Anybody ever docked at brown's marina? Im hearing its considerably cheaper than bimini bay. But its on the other side of the island.
Agree....every boat coming up the channel passes browns and many don't heed the no wake buoy (or sometimes its MIA). Also, no floating docks just piles.Only to visit Big John’s restaurant it’s kind of a run down marina I wouldn’t want to leave my boat there long term with amount of traffic that rolls by there you would likely take damage over the week.
I was thinking the same thing.Only to visit Big John’s restaurant it’s kind of a run down marina I wouldn’t want to leave my boat there long term with amount of traffic that rolls by there you would likely take damage over the week.
My kids still complain why are we not crossing to Bimini this year. My daughter loves to drive the boat full throttle. She has a need for speed. Hopefully we make the trip in 2021 or 2022 depending on how crazy it is outside. As of now sticking to the lakes. Plan to road trip to different lakes in surrounding states next year.So true. Still, so worth it!
I really loved taking my kids, it was a bit unnerving at times, perhaps, but just enough to put the fear of God into their young hearts, I felt.
Not to get philosophical but there is nothing like being out there in the ocean, away from an ipad screen, with no land on the horizon; it will make you feel one and the same with the universe, pretty quick, lol.

tSo I'm getting a head start this year and we have already booked our trip for Bimini in 2021. We will be departing Bahia Mar Sunday June 27 to cross to Bimini and will be returning on Friday July 2nd. We are staying at Resort World this year as I have a bunch of family joining me who are not very keen on being on the boat all day so at least over there they will have other things to do while I out on the boat. All are welcome to join us but this will be a loosely organized trip more of a group crossing. I will tag a few who maybe interested in joining and if you are interested let me know in this thread and I will try to keep track of who is going. If you do book lodging make sure they have a good cancellation policy as we never know right now with all the things going on if the trip will be allowed.
Here are a few key points to think about.
Once you and your crew have decided you want to join our June trip, here is a list of things you need to get done.
- As the Captain you are responsible for your boat and crew to safely make it to Bimini and back to Ft Lauderdale, this is your priority #1 assisting other boaters comes second.
- All on board your boat must be able to sit comfortably behind the windshield. Do not plan on having anyone sit in the bow area, in my 12 legs to and from the Bahamas (6 trips), only once has the conditions been nice enough to sit in the bow.
- All heavy cargo should be secured behind the windshield, either secured on the deck or in under seat storage areas.
- Unless your anchor locker is heavily padded or you are extremely confident your anchor is secured in the anchor locker, for the crossings pull the anchor from anchor locker and secure in an under seat storage area, it will not be needed on the crossing. Anchors in the anchor locker have punctured through hulls during past trips.
Outline of key items for the trip that you need to do.
