Cobra vs Vector 2021 Edition

I don’t want or need anything from you, but less arrogant posts to scroll through would be nice though.
and if you weren’t concerned with sales, you would‘t pounce every time the subject comes up. Nor would you threaten legal action if someone talked about an alternate source.
So, you like nice scrolling, lol. And your contribution to this thread is what, exactly?

Hate it or love it, Cobra's posts, he makes the fucking fins; he knows his stuff.

my contribution? Was actually to help him realize he’s hurting himself. usually, when someone asks about these steering aids they’re looking for a objective opinion, They’re not looking to be attacked by a salesman. There’s nothing wrong with offering your services, but as we see it doesn’t stop there and he usually gets nasty about it. Truth is, he did deter me from buying from him and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Wow you sure don't have a very good grasp of the English language do you.. I am now done wasting my time with you ! good by.
Wow...was not expecting that my thread will turn into this...

Jeff - Realize you grab the “bull by its horns” so here are few thoughts to chew on -

1. You are a business owner here to sell fins - you are not handing them out as a philanthropic gesture. #1 rule in business - don’t alienate your customers...there is no bigger customer base for jet boat fins than this forum...make of that what you will...

2. If you want to call someone out on their grasp of the language, please know the difference between OLD FACTORIES and OLFACTORY....and it is good BYE...

I believe I now have enough hard and soft data points to make a decision...case closed...THANKS ALL!!!

This topic, along with:
  • Yamalube vs Mobil 1
  • Ethanol or not
  • Internal Drain plugs in or out
  • and how I pronounce "Yamaha"
have all been some of the most hotly debated topics on the forum.

Appreciate all your passion....please try and keep it civil....

Thanks!

oh once again the newest class of 2021 year after year same foolishness different names.

Not a fan of the posts, but Cobra did modify the shape of the fins for the 2019÷ reverse buckets. This curved cutout eliminated most blocking of the sideways thrust which was quite an improvement over the original fin. I believe, not sure, that TVs block more of the sideways thrust reducing the reverse steering.

Jeff at Cobra Jet is very responsive. It's hard to get that this day and age.

thanks Jeff for ALWAYS being available to support your customers. Your customer service is unmatched and we repeat customers know that more than any others. Keep building and supporting your top quality products.

I know my version of TVs do not block the side thrust of my Lateral Thrusters, and from the attached video the new ones perform/will perform the same way. I can easily pivot my boat like the one in the video.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program - Fight, Fight, Fight :devilhorns: ? ? :winkingthumbsup"

It makes sense the JBP product combo of their lateral thrusters for models without them and TV(X)s work well together.

From both visual inspection and on-the-water reverse steering behavior, I believe at least the TVXs (all I have experience with) partially block the stock lateral thrusters on the 2019+ models. I could start a reverse turn, then reasonably try to slow/stop it by turning the wheel hard in the opposite direction. The rate of the turn *in the original direction* accelerated! I verified everything was correctly installed and it was repeatable. Didn't do the physics on exactly why that was happening, except knowing the boat certainly didn't do that before the TVXs went on.

The reverse behavior and not liking the rooster tail spray at 5-10 mph - I spend a lot of time at high no-wake speed in a couple canals where I live - was about when I started considering cutting a piece out of the TVXs or looking for an alternative, because they do generally help with steering. Around that time I saw Jeff mention "no interference with reverse thrust" with his fins. That piqued my interest, ending up where I am now, happy owner of some AK-19 super deluxe ultimate or whatever they're called (sorry Jeff!) set in the full-time lowest position.

Slow speed is easy the big difference is high speed , watersports activities and dealing with waves and wind , strong currents, etc. the boat belongs to the driver and does the drivers bidding not the other way around and all without having huge fins hanging down under the nozzle plus having the option of changing the effect to suit you.

I have had two boats with Thrust Vectors mainly because the dealership that I bought them from recommended them for the first boat and put them on for free on the second boat. I think they work OK but the CobraJet offerings have piqued my interest.

@Cobra Jet Steering LLC: I have Lateral Thrusters as well - are your systems compatible with it?

with the systems for the boat you own yes the super magnum ak deluxe with the plaining surfaces and the second tie rod and inside top fins costs $469.99 but you must return the stainless steel standoffs to the reverse gates like the boat came from the factory if you use my steering . so if you did not save them you need to get new ones I have the part numbers if you need them And all the steering stays above the factory rudder also the front of the fins are cut away for compatibility with the lateral thrusters.

I personally think this thread is hilarious, and I like Jeff's no nonsense approach ????

I personally think Jeff skipped lunch and was generally HANGRY today... once supper was done, he returned to normalcy...yes I meant to say supper...

Jeff, I easily understand your passion, fight and grit and that’s what “steers” me to Cobra. Of course, let’s just say I work in an industry where being passive equates to sure annihilation. I’ll be a customer if my ship ever comes in. I’d love to hear your full story sometime. Seems to me you were the first with the fin design?

@Cobra Jet Steering LLC what do you recommend for a 1999 LS2000? Mainly looking to improve low speed steering so others are more comfortable driving the boat, docking, getting on the trailer. I want steering at speed to change little to none.

Yes That is correct I owned boats all my life I built boats for myself and even worked in marine shops for free to learn about engine repairs I was a police officer for 23 years and had to work on cars trucks motorcycles boats do welding etc to raise my 4 children I also owned a company called A and J auto clinic m I was never afraid to work so when I was not patrolling the streets I was working in my shop. But the badge opened a lot of doors for me and people were happy to let me hang around and work with them for free to learn their secrets I learned auto body and painting as well. So when I needed to build myself a bike or a dune buggy it was easy for me to do. Any way I purchased a jet boat when I was about 48 years old and was mortified when I first put it in the water, I flat refused to drive that damn thing and was going to sell it. BUT Jeff decided to go ahead and build a steering system for it mounting small rudders off to the side of the nozzle with tie rods connecting the rudders t9o the nozzle and the first time I put this in the water I was smiling the second I started to drive it , I lobed driving that boat and finally decided I should patent my design and more and have been doing this ever since.
