For anyone who thinks sugical masks do anything to prevent viral transmission of Covid should read these studies. There is a plethora of studies disproving that myth. It has been proven time and time again that a surgical mask does nothing to prevent the viral transmission of Covid. I wear a N95 mask everywhere I go and at all times when in public. “N95 masks offer protection against particles as small as 0.3 microns in size, and while the coronavirus itself is around 0.1 microns in size, it’s usually attached to something larger, such as droplets that are generated by everyday activities like breathing and talking,”
“In general,” says Sean Kelly, founder of New Jersey-based
PPE of America, “N95 is the U.S. standard, and the KN95 is the China standard.” Because of this, only N95 masks are approved for health-care use in the United States, even though KN95 masks have many of the same protective properties.
Wear a mask don't wear a mask makes no difference to me. But if you are looking for the best protection from covid without going to full blown respirators the N95 mask is the most convenient and abundant way in my opinion.

"Disposable medical masks (also known as surgical masks) are loose-fitting devices that were designed to be worn by medical personnel to protect accidental contamination of patient wounds, and to protect the wearer against splashes or sprays of bodily fluids (
36). There is limited evidence for their effectiveness in preventing influenza virus transmission either when worn by the infected person for source control or when worn by uninfected persons to reduce exposure. Our systematic review found no significant effect of face masks on transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza."
N95 respirators, surgical masks, face masks, and barrier face coverings offer different levels of protection for the wearer from particles.

"While a surgical mask may be effective in blocking splashes and large-particle droplets, a face mask, by design, it does not filter or block very small particles in the air that may be transmitted by coughs, sneezes, or certain medical procedures. Surgical masks also do not provide complete protection from germs and other contaminants because of the loose fit between the surface of the mask and your face."
