Do not deal with MarineMax if you want a Scarab 165

There you go again Mike, looking like a true FanBoy

@Evil Sports What did I say thats not true? It doesnt matter if it would have been a Mako from Bass Pro Shops, or a Chaparral from another dealer. Would you attack Yamaha because a dealer would sell you something at the price you wanted? I can go to Ford all day long, and offer 15K for a 2014 F150, but when they dont agree to sell it to me, am I going to blast all of Ford, and their dealer network because of it?

I told this dude to go look at other boats through Facebook, and see if he can get a better deal. I told him to look at the Chaparrals, and Glastrons, and Yamahas, any other brand.

Here are my messages to him...
That sux Joe. I guess all of the locations are not the same. My dealer here is awesome. I wonder if they can help you get in to one. Here call this guy. His name is Jerry. 561-XXX-XXXX Tell him Miguel sent you. He is floored that they would do that to you.

Im an enthusiast. I love all jetboats, Glastron also has one, its nice but there is where you get into issues. Chaparral also has some. Those things are sweet. They were a little cheaper than the Scarab, but there wasnt any that I could check out. Its the new Vortex line

So no, Im not a brand fanboy. Im a jet boat fanatic. Ill say it a million times. I went with my boat because I love the style, and aggressiveness. But 90% of the decision was because of how I was treated when I purchased my Sea Ray. If my dealer would have had Yamahas I would have purchased an AR210. and if they sold Chaps, I would have bought a Vortex 203. Either way, I would have purchased a JET PROPELLED WATERCRAFT where I felt most comfortable.

But, if they wouldn't have agreed to sell me either of those at the price I wanted to pay which may or may not have been reasonable, I would have looked to another brand and dealer to get a better bargain on something similar.

Just found this..

Who cares if he attacked someone. Govern your passion and you might live longer to enjoy your JET PROPELLED WATERCRAFT

Deep breaths everyone. He got a bad salesman.
Agreed, Julian ... TO clear the air, and get back to boating, can we "close" this now. I IMHO feel as though we may have exhausted this subject. 'Jes my 2 cents worth.
I am off to ride my INCREDIBLE Intelligent Brake and Reverse, HIGHLY RELIABLE SEADOO JetSki !
Did y'all know that on the Candian stock exchange, BRP's symbol is "
DOO" .................LOL. Pretty kewl. I hear a stampede of voracious remarks coming back on that one.
Hurry Julian...CLOSE THIS ! LOL !
Best to all ... Mikey Lulejian - Buttoning up my vest to go riding on Lake Oconee, GA

We don't really like to close posts, and haven't come up with a "policy/procedure" for when we would. Probably should [USERGROUP=4]@Moderating[/USERGROUP] discuss this.

I think we are all mature enough to keep this one on topic and friendly.... :winkingthumbsup"

I'd just like to note that nowadays, if you're going to go after a company online and post negative comments and attempt to hurt their business, you better be 100% factual and consistent, have all your ducks in a row, and be prepared to defend your claims in court. Companies have been known to sue individuals who, in their opinions, have slandered them online and may have hurt their business. Especially if it comes off as malicious. The amount they will go after in damages will be HUGE.

Not pointing any fingers here, just sayin'.

Just my opinion, but this thread is the reason commercial entities shouldn't be on sites such as this...I know there is money, funding, advertising, etc. but not worth it IMO.

My opinion....The OP posted the offer he got in writing (even better - printed by their system), which the dealer then back out on. Reason enough for him to say "Do not deal with MarineMax". If he's lying, then you are correct that he puts himself at risk. If the dealer wants to refute the accuracy of his post, they are welcome to post a rebuttal. There are tons examples of review sites and plenty of ways for Dealers to handle issues. If you like Marinemax, I encourage you to post your experience.

@ScarabMike You gave me the number of your MarineMax contact and like I stated I do not wish to deal with MarineMax at all at this point.
But I am damn sure going to make the salesman and MarineMax realize that this kind of thing will not just go unnoticed. If one person goes into a marinmax and has the salesman try this but because of this thread they are able to call them out on it then great.

I really do like the look of the Scarab and the idea of a 250hp package in such a small nimble hull but since my only option for a local dealer to support it is MarineMax (Once again because they are in bed together with an exclusivity agreement) I will probably wind up getting another yamaha waverunner as the yamaha boats don't have the power I am looking for yet and really do not want another stern drive. Wish they put the SVHO in the 2015.

As far as legal ramifications, I have the facts on my side in the form of actual paperwork, emails and voicemails and lots of former clients that deal with this stuff daily so I would love to see them come at me. My counter suit would net me a few new boats.

Legal ramifications require someone to prove damages or intent to damage the reputation for the sole purpose of driving business elsewhere or to the benefit of another competitor. If a company screws up people posting negative reviews is far from against the law.

Not to add fuel to the fire here because I know there is talk of closing this post, but I think more people should post their experiences (good or bad) about a business. The way Yamaha has treated many people who had problems with their boats and did nothing to help them, I wouldn't feel sorry for them one bit if their business and sales was impacted by someone having the brass to tell it like it is. @SilentShooter, maybe if more people did the same as you did on here and on Scarab FB, businesses may think twice about playing games or not tolerating employees who do anything that would negatively affect their business.

Well I received a call from the GM at Sarasota MarineMax. He let me know that Scarab and Corp were asking about this and that he was gathering the info and going to go back to them and see what they want to do about it.

I did have to laugh as he was told by the salesperson that I made the offer of $30k, but like I told him that would be pretty impressive if I could make my offer print out of the MarineMax IDS system with the price I wanted.

I may have missed this somewhere in the thread, but will you purchase this boat if they make everything right or just move on?

It really would depend on how things go. I want the 165 but only if I have a good relationship with the dealer as MarineMax is the only dealer in the State for them and depends on timeline. I have already started talking with a couple other dealers on other options. Might just jump on another waverunner as the new 15's from yamaha will be showing up in the next week or two.

OK, I just read this whole thing.

So, you got screwed over by a salesman. If you buy anything that is bound to happen. I personally do not think it is a direct reflection on the way the entire franchise does business. They would be silly to let that go on for long in this day of instant information sharing.

From a latter post you indicated that this has already gone up the ladder. That would have probably been the objective I would have wanted. Especially if my heart was set on that model and that dealer is the only game in town.

Hopefully they will get back to you, you will get the boat deal you want and you will go one to live a long and happy life.

Don't dwell on the salesman getting fired and all that negative stuff. He will get his.

Don't let $800 stand between you and your desires. Sure, I understand "It's the principal" and all that....BUT
