Does anyone else think that Super Bowl 51 was staged / scripted?

I hate the sudden death OT....gives the winner of the coin toss a huge advantage! IMHO it should be a simple 15 minute quarter with the winner being the one with the highest score at the end of OT.

I kinda thought three defensive holding calls that kept the Pats alive on three third and long situations was a little suspect.

I agree but what do you do if the score is still tied? I think the whole each team has to possess the ball except for a touch down is about as good as it can get. The coin just happened to fall in the Pats favor this time and I am glad it did. That Falcon offense is a force to be reckoned with.

I like the college football OT rules much better!

15 minute period, running clock, no time outs. Maybe one tv time out at 7.5 minute mark.

This one is going to be tough to get over. Unbelievable the Falcons imploded the way they did in the 2nd half. They were dominating, and with a 25 point lead the game should of been over. Run the freaking ball and kick the field goal when the game is 28-20 and it would of been over. Hell, it should of never even got that close to begin with. Penalties, questionable play calls, costly fumble on 3rd and 1, etc etc. Oh well, I am glad they made it to the big stage, but I'm afraid last night was probably the best chance the Falcons had to finally win a Super Bowl. Maybe we will get another chance one day.

Rumor has it that the Pats weighted one side of the coin. More at eleven.....

Speak for yourself @Murf'n'surf , I do a little bit of football officiating (obviously not at that level) and I felt like the PI call was really questionable especially given the time and circumstances of the game - you are basically awarding the Super Bowl to NE with that call. Also at the end of regulation on the 2 point try there was a hold not called that sprung the runner - that hold is one we are taught we have to get as it is right at the point of attack.

I think that PI was a totally legit call, ref called what he saw and shouldn't change based on outside factors but some of the earlier holding calls could go either way...

Bruce, guess I'm the odd man out here, but I gotta go with you on this one - the last few years, too many "strange" turn of events have happened in title games, play off games, and, yes, Super Bowls - I've been watching NFL for a long, long time, and I've noticed so many plays and calls that have completely turned the game(s) around - and it is always the super teams that win - think about it, would the NFL want a team like the Detroit Lions in the Super Bowl??...I doubt it, nobody would come or even watch it - but put a NE, Denver, Seattle, NY Giants, etc in the game, and you are going to fill the stadium - I really think the past few Super Bowls have been "manipulated" - throw in the Vegas odds and let the losers bet against themselves and everybody has a big pay day!! - bigger pay day than if they won!! - it's gotten so bad IMO, I don't even care to watch NFL anymore - as bad as NASCAR - oh, and just for the record, you put Stafford (or almost any quarterback for that matter) behind that NE offensive line they have maintained for so many years, and he would most likely outshine Brady - remember they were 3-1 in the first 4 games without him

If the NFL was fixed the Dallas cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers would be in the SuperBowl every year, you say the super teams win every year, yes the teams that are the best managed and the best run win, they all play under the same salary cap. Finally, please dont enter into your argument that Matthew Stafford is better than Tom Brady, it nullifies your previous points..btw I am a Georgia fan and watched Stafford his whole career..much love

Huge chop block, out in the open in overtime on Pats 1/10 from 25 going in. These are tough to get when they occur in the interior line play but when out in the open like this one was? How the hell was that missed? A huge missed call, gave Pats ball 1/10 at about the 14 - should have backed 'em up 15 yards to make it 1/25 from the 40. Big game changing mistake, just like the missed illegal bat at the end of last year's game that sealed the game for the Broncos. Just another terrible day of officiating by the no accountability union officials that we have become used to on Sundays. Another blown call was the missed OPI on the Pats 2 point try. Easy call to see if you are on your keys but they missed it. Falcons were offsides on the play so the fouls would offset and a re-do would occur, but still...how was this missed? How about when Edelman stepped OOB on the punt return? Sure, replay corrected it but why the F was the deep wing official NOT on the sideline where he must be, but rather, 1 and a half yards off the sideline and not in position to see him step OOB? Yep, another embarrassing display by the officials in the biggest game of the year. Yep, the PC hiring continues (skin or kin and you are in) and if you think the female official they have now is utterly incompetent (she is) wait until you see the one they bring in next season! LOL.

Hmmm.... We had seen a sampling of non-union (or whatever you want to call it - I don't care one way or the other) refereeing during 2012 NFL referee lockout... That was not pretty.
Perhaps those NFL rules are getting too complex?

Pretty sure the Russians had something to do with the outcome.
