This is what happens when you get in my Wife's way! Everyone is ok...car not so good. Guy turned in front of her (his fault). Of course she is in Illinois with the car...so now what happens will be interesting. Has a rent-a-car for now. All the airbags worked great! Caitlin was a little shaken and banged up by the side airbag, but didn't need treatment.

Other driver was 19 and tried to cut in front of my wife to make a left turn....poor driving skills to say the least!

Now the fun begins.....better hope his insurance (Gieco) totals it....as that front right wheel is bent out.

That is a lot of impact! Glad everyone is ok.

Wow that is terrible. Sorry to hear/see but glad everyone is ok.

Crap!!!!! That looks horrible, glad everyone is ok...

Wow! Happy to hear all are OK.

Really scary + large PIA factor = not good.

OMG! That's scary!! I'm glad they are okay, I hope it's not too much of a fight with the insurance co. ugh.

Julian glad to hear they are ok. Car can be replaced. ...:winkingthumbsup"

Glad everyone is okay. I hope the 19 year old wasn't texting as they took that left turn.

Ditto on the family. Nothing a couple of noodles can't fix.

Glad to hear all are well, even the 19 year old rookie driver. Looks like the safety systems in the MDX did their job.

We had an MDX and loved it but had to trade it in for something that could tow more. Over a decade ago I was a passenger in Honda that was involved in a very bad accident(rear ended at 50 mph while stopped in traffic on the freeway then catapulted head on into the concrete median) . Long before my treatment was done I wrote a letter to Honda thanking them for designing such a safe car, it was totaled but the passengers (pretty much) walked away.

WOW! That really sucks, glad the family is ok.

Please keep us posted on how the insurance covers you when traveling. I never thought about it but how do you get it home? Do you have to repair locally? Do they pay your travel expense to get home(rental) and air travel to return after the repair?

I've shipped many cars via car carrier for $750-900 for 1200-1500 miles but I'm not sure your car can be loaded due to the damages.

Julian,

Glad that your family is OK! Cars can be fixed....

Extra hugs for the kids tonight.

glad everything worked as it was supposed to and everybody is ok,

Oh man Julian. Glad everyone is ok!!!! Life is so precious. Not everyone gets that. Certainly not the 19 year old. And not the guy that sought me out last night to ask me to end his. No kidding. A guy in the hotel bar, where I had one glass of vino, drunk as can be, is looking for someone to kill him. Claimed to be wealthy and just wanted out. Had nephew and brother die recently and lost. What do you say? I am glad all of you are ok!!!!

Wow @Julian Glad to hear the family is ok.

Oh it turned my stomach to see that first photo pop up. Glad everyone is relatively okay.

We had a 2003 Honda CR-V which we really liked. My wife had an accident with way less damage than your wife's car and the insurance company totaled it. The CR-V was hit on the driver's front side. We paid $17K for the CR-V, drove it until 2008, and the insurance company gave us $13K. I hope your deal is as good.

Wow! Happy nobody's seriously hurt.

I'd imagine the cars totalled, the cost of replacing side impact airbags will be a small fortune, plus the shell will be twisted with that amount of suspension damage.

@Julian : Best Wishes that the rest of the week turns out better. However, the good news, as you know, is that your Family is OK health-wise.
Take Care, Mikey Lulejian - Lake Oconee, GA
