Obviously unprepared for the trip, and also travelling alone. 20 people on a 29ft seems like a lot?

mods: I posted this in general since many people do travel to Bimini but feel free to move elsewhere

This is terrible. But 20 people on a 29’ boat??? What the hell were they thinking? I wouldn’t have 20 people on my Formula. Not even half that.

When I googled this earlier today, I couldn't find any interviews with family who are saying they have relatives missing. I'm wondering if it was a crank call? Makos should float even if capsized.....

Perhaps there is more on this since the AM?

I googled the boat to see what they were referring to. 20 people on that boat does seem like alotta people.

I had the article emailed to me. Blew my mind when I saw 20 people on the boat. I don't load nearly as many people on my boat on a lake much less crossing the ocean. 8 have a 34ft baja. I get 6 and I feel crowded.

They're saying now that it may have been a people smuggling operation. It left Grand Bahama with 10, picked up 10 more in Bimini, then headed for US.

They also mentioned that even 10 was already over capacity for that boat.

Seas were also extremely rough, 8-12ft. Could have easily been capsized and swallowed up by the sea. Sad story....

I was thinking it was something like that.

I was there the day after they left.. talked to a few guys that came over on 48+ boats complaining about how tough it was. I can’t imagine cross in that with that many people.

if it was smuggling, seeing a group of even 10 ppl anywhere on bimini during that time would have really stood out. It was a ghost town.

Crazy story...
