Has anyone tried out this LED option from Diablo?

Last year I thought about installing new brass drain plugs and LED drain plug lights, but never got around to it. I went back out a few minutes ago and found these. Has anyone tried them out? I've got a single so I'd have two of these. $120 doesn't seem excessive if they are bright enough.

That's pretty neat! Looks like it would work for the boats with out the new articulating keel set up but would not work for the newer boats with the keel.

Interesting!

19' boats have dual drain plugs that are off to the sides and not in the center so I don't think it would be in the way. However wouldn't the LED part sit below the hull and if so would it create any weird drag or spray?

Maybe? That's why I was wondering if anyone had tried them. Not a lot easier than what I was planning to do originally, but it would save a few bucks...and I like saving bucks.

I believe the Led part goes on the top not the bottom. If so, I don't think anything would be below the hull causing spray. They do look like a neat idea. I'd be interested to know how they work out as well.

1200 lumens. How does that compare to what normal lights are?

1200 lumens is not very bright.

Here is 8000 lumens

With the flashlights I sell, 1200 lumens is extremely bright, not sure how that relates to underwater lights. I do know that I had two 200 lumens underwater lights and it was enough to light up about a 20 ft halo around the back of the boat and also make my wake glow underway until we got on plane.
I like these lights, the only thing holding me up is how far they stick off the back of the boat. I don't think they'd be a problem, just not sure about the asthetics.

It all depends on water clarity. If you are going to do most of your boating in the Bahamas then 1200 should be plenty.

Yeah, but I boat in Texas in a lake whose clarity matches pea soup... I think I will need about 80k lumens to make a difference. But I will probably put the 2400 version on my wish list, just for fun. You never know...

My wife just said she likes the Mickey Mouse version better than the owl version

Holy crap it's a deadmau5 version!!!

The light he has linked is designed for the drain plug on the 2010-14 240/242 models I'm sure some of the 210 and 190's have this same set up but on the correct match it would sit against the hull so there wouldn't be any spray. The light was designed for yamaha's with the below drain plug which is the same my 2011 SX 240 had. Had I known this was around I probably would have added it to that boat as it looks like a real simple install for that match.

I can’t remember how much room there is above the drain before the hull extends aft and I don’t have my boat at the house. @haknslash, go out in the garage and shoot a pic to refresh my memory. A measure would be awesome too. I’ll be waiting. :winkingthumbsup"

:D here you go @DBamaC . With our there boats isn't any room above the drains because of the stepped area of the stern down there. This is why I mentioned it would drag in the water and possibly make some spray, at least for our boats as others may be different/have room to mount them. You would need to mount them "upside down".
