JetBoaters.net Bimini Fling July 10th to 15th 2017

I checked with the sands yesterday to see what she had left because I was gonna downsize to a smaller condo... all 1 rooms or 1 with a loft. Maybe 7 or 8 total if I recall. No dice for my castaways.

Last year we rented a 1 bedroom loft and we had 7 people
There was a queen in the bedroom
And in the lost was a double bed and 2 singles and down stairs were 2 Bahama beds plenty of room

I don't think she's in the rental pool this year but she has 2 units side by side and will rent seperately or together

On a side note, Bimini to Silver Glen to Lake Powell is going to be an epic summer of boating!
You only live once, and you only die once. Just trying to squeeze as many great things as possible in between the two milestones.

Iggyg00 has registered to captain Feeling Fritzie with a crew of 1 adults and 0 children. They hail from the home port of Richmond hill GA.

The crew is described as: ready to enjoy an adventure. Will add a in boat vhf, extra bilge pump, and 2nd battery before leaving

The bar picture appears to be the Infinity Pool snack bar. I have never seen it open so that will be a major improvement.

Bicycle rental will be nice. The island is almost flat so it will be easy riding.

I have been in touch with the new operators of the Petite Conch Cafe, the Infinity Pool Snack Bar and the Ship Store. They all are excited to be at Bimini Sands and know we have a big group coming.

The reports I am hearing are that the new staff are nice and helpful..

Finally got through with the Sands to confirm my unit # 21M (Bruce--I updated the first post).

Thanks, we enjoyed 21M in 2014 and 2015. It is a very nice condo with an amazing view.

Unless I forgot how to count, we should be on open water headed for Bimini 77 days from now...
Julian-welcome neighbor. We are in 21-N

Just sent the request for a condo we will see what i get.

Provisioning while at Bahia Mar ( after the boat is docked and the truck/trailer are parked at Harbor Towne marina)

I am hoping that there is more than one crew paranoid enough to arrive at Bahia Mar on Saturday. I thinking that if you are paranoid enough to be at Bahia Mar one day early; you probably are paranoid enough about leaving food on the boat for 2 days. In light of this epiphany, I contacted Bahia Mar and confirmed that they have Enterprise rent a car on site. I figured I rent a car to go to Publix on Sunday afternoon. I wanted to check if there is anyone else who is interested to join me on this insecurity endeavor. If so please let me know, so I can reserve minivan instead of a Kia Rio.

If you are hesitant to admit your insecurity at public please feel free to send me a PM.

PS. I checked with Harbor Towne Marina and they did not seem very enthusiastic about the truck going in and out their property.

I have seen people do this with a taxi, uber or lift. My opinion is that it is so much easier to park your boat in the grocery store parking lot and load the groceries from the cart into the boat. If you load groceries at Bahia Mar, if you can find parking near your pier you still have a gate, an angled walkway and up to 500 feet of pier between you and the boat. I think you are making it too hard.

Additionally you are going to fill that Kia Rio pretty well with groceries. I doubt more than two could share the minivan.

I am bringing a second vehicle down (so we don't kill each other on the 11 hr drive scrunched up in my F350) and we are arriving on Saturday. Planning to food shop Sunday. I am thinking of leaving the van at Bahia Mar....if I read correctly on a previous post, Bahia mar is $7/day for passenger vehicles w/ no trailer.

I do have a tendency to over complicate things. LOL. I guess I could always shop on Saturday and refresh the ice on Sunday.

Meat is the only food that I have had an issue with going bad on the Bimini trip and only when we stayed longer than five days. It seems that the grocery store packed meat trays always expose the meat to the melting ice water. After the water exposure the meat starts turning grey quickly if left refrigerated.

In 2015 we froze half of our meat when we arrived in Bimini to deal with this issue. In 2016 we placed everything that might get contaminated in zip lock bags.

This year I am considering buying all meat at home, vacuum packing then freezing it. I am hopeful that using dry ice will keep everything frozen all the way to Bimini.

You probably know this but don't forget that dry ice evaporates into carbon dioxide. In an enclosed space like a SUV if it was gassing off too quickly with no cover on the container ... well you get where I am going and it would not be good.

Freeze everything you can... especially if you are arriving Saturday.

We freeze two 36 packs of water and place them on the bottom of the cooler, then add food and such.

So not to change the subject.....being bored at work I googled Bimini sands and on the right side of the screen is almost like an ad for Bimini Sands Resort and Marina and when I click on the little website button it opens Resorts world Hiltons page
that kind of strikes me as odd for some reason

Sounds like some sly search engine optimization (SEO). Short version is that there are some well paid folks that make sure that the company/product/service they represent gets the top hits and ad placement based on a given query and other parameters such as your location and browsing habits.

On the bright side- it is a completely painless death, actually. :D

The family that operated Bimini Sands for many years was removed by the developer in late 2015 or early 2016. He took the BiminiSands.com domain name with him. At one time he leased the traffic to Resorts World other times it was leased to a porn site. There certainly is some bad blood there.

The correct URL for Bimini Sands is https://www.thebiminisands.com/
