I've been using the Magic Eraser probably 2, maybe 3 years now....
I used to just clean my seats with good ole soap and water, and then apply a uv protectant 'conditioner' or whatever... Then I got this one stubborn stain on there and it came off almost instantly with the Magic Eraser. So well in fact that I noticed it was just a tad whiter where I had scrubbed with the Magic Eraser. So I proceeded to clean anything and everything in site with the things. Took off stubborn black marks on the gel coat, seats were pearly white, seemed too good to be true.
Then a couple months go by, and I start to notice the threads on my seat were separating a bit.... Then I started to notice more and more stains every week, and they were getting harder and harder to get out, even with the Magic eraser. After the first off-season when I pulled the cover off of my boat, there was a lot of yellowing spots all over the place. The best the magic eraser could do was to dull them....
So here I am now about to replace the entire upholstery in my boat! I'm not saying it was the Magic Eraser.... All I'm saying is that my interior looked pretty damn good BEFORE I started using it. And after just looking at
@maboat 's interior, his looks GREAT! Says he's never used anything boat soap and water and some elbow grease. That will be my plan moving forward.[/QUOTE]
Well that doesn't make me feel very good. I did the same, as I noticed how white they got. But I also applied some 3M Vinyl Protectant after the Magic Eraser, so hopefully that protects it. Thanks for the heads up.
