Merry Christmas Everyone!!! Santa was definitely running around in the snow last night....I took a photo for you :).

Santa brought me a 10" Marine Bazooka subwoofer for my Yamaha 240. Does anyone have any experience with the bass performance of the 8" or 10" subwoofers? I am a little afraid that the 10" may be too much. There is an 8" option, but I am afraid that it may not be enough. The model that I got is not amplified, but it will be plugged into my current amp on the boat. Thanks.

10" sub will not be over powering. Some people are putting in 2 10" subs!

Your're good for now and I suspect you will want more bass sometime in the future. In my former boat, I had a 12" and it sounded great. In my current boat I have a 10" and I want more. Remember, even if the 10" provided more bass than you need, you can always adjust it down with the amp, so anyway you put it, you will be fine.

I have that exact sub. It is just right...

I don't usually like Xmas gifts. But this year I got something AWESOME. My friend, Jason, hand made a Marilspike out of Dutch elm wood for me, for the new boat. Freaking awesome. :D

I have never heard the marine style but the reg car audio ones carry a pretty good amout of bass but nothing over kill.

"Santa wife" got me my JL 7.7 and my second sub box. Luckily i got eoungh amazon gift cards to get my other JL10" sub so the only thing ill need is another 6 Channel amp. So by summer i should be rocking 6 (3 pairs) of JL 6 1/2", 2 JL 7.7, 2 JL 10" Subs and 2 6 channel JL amps. Thats only using 10 of the 12 channels.....might need some JL 8.8's to round it all out in my SX24020161226_073138.jpg

Where are you putting the sub?

They cut the whole in the side of the seat behind the driver, but it was not giving me the bass i wanted do i left the grill on (to cover the hole) there and moved the sub to a box where the cooler gos. It hits much harder. But the 2nd one i want to put on the otherside but not sure if it will fit. Its 84 here in FL so i am taking the family out and ill have to dry fit it to see. Worse case ill sit it next to the other one.

@Drift Away - That is going to be one loud and sweet sounding boat.

So moving the sub to a box under the seat compartment made a big difference in sound compared to the sub being mounting in fiberglass below seat? Mine is currently mounted in fiberglass like yours was, and I'm not blown away with how it sounds either. Sure it puts out pretty good bass, but I want more bump. My sub is an IB sub so I guess I would have to get a different type sub if I were to put in box under the seat.

I may still return it from Amazon and then repurchase it closer to Spring. Just so that I can see how this big subwoofer tube fits in the boat. It's pretty huge. I was planning to install it in the storage area in front of the helm. My amplifier is in there, so this will make is easy to connect the wires. But I need to see it in the boat first which can't happen until it comes out of storage. Sucks to be a Northern boater.

Only downside was mounting it there is you're going to notice all kinds of new rattles and Shakes in your boat. With the 110 inch JL Audio subwoofer I have I can actually feel it in the steering wheel it threw me off the first couple times I took it out.

Any suggestions on where else I should put it? I really don't want to have to run wires from the stern if I put it back there.

My 10" JL Sub is in the seat behind the drivers seat. Works pretty well 20161226_095338.jpg

Thanks. My issue is the size of the Bazooka subwoofer. It is much larger than yours and it would take up a large portion of that storage area. We currently use this area to store a lot of our stuff that we use frequently.

Does your subwoofer have a built in amp or do you plug it directly into an amp that you have on your boat?
