Movie Reviews - What's your thought about what you've seen?

Arghhhh. Just saw Dora the Explorer! Yup, three young daughters. I saw more than my fair share of the original Dora as they grew up (Swiper no swiping!). It was never of interest until wifey saw the preview and realized it had more of teenage Indiana Jones flair than expected (Dora grew up just like my girls). Aside from the fact I’m discussing Dora, the writers did an excellent job of paying tribute to the original brand while tapping into the grown interests of its original following. We really wanted grumpy old troll. My wife almost flipped out when it went “cartoon” and was worried (almost pissed) it would stay that way. I was LMAO worried the guy who huffed the poppies and ripped his cartoon clothes off would resurface (naked) after the buzz wore off and the real-life movie came back. Anyway, kudos, but I still feel a little ashamed and want to binge-watch all of the Die Hard movies now.

The kids used to watch Dora occasionally. I was stuck in a YouTube rabbit hole one day and found this:
Never seemed the same anymore lol.

Wife and I went to see Motherless Brooklyn this last weekend - because people were raving about it.

I was actively annoyed by it! LOL. Movie never gave you enough of the plot to figure out what was going on, then ended without resolution. Some people will rave about it....I didn't like it (neither did my wife). Acting was great....

So I know this is supposed to be for reviews, but do we have any other "Car Guys" (or Gals) looking forward to Ford v Ferrari?

I don't go to a lot of movies in the theater so I actually marked this one on the calendar so it doesn't slip away on me.

Was thinking about it @biglar155 but I might wait for Netflix. Matt Damon is not my favorite. Having been a car nut all my life I know the story well, but I always seem to be disappointed with auto related films. They seem to always go over the top.

Just saw Ford v. Ferrari, it was close to 3 hours long without the previews. There was a lot of focus in the politics of Ford and the relationship between between Carol Shelby and driver Ken Miles. It was true to the era but unless you are really into the Ford / Shelby story I would wait for it to hit Netflix.

Watched Frozen 2 over the weekend. It wasn’t as good as the original but still good .

Knives Out with Daniel Craig was surprisingly good. i doubt most people will figure out who committed the crime or how the story ends before the last scene. I’m not into murder mysteries but enjoyed this one.

Star Wars, rise of sky walker. Go.

I thought it was excellent! A great wrap on the whole saga with ties and nuances leading back to the prior trilogies and a nice dark twist. Probably my favorite of the recent films.

Can I just say, I'm so happy they didn't go back to every world and add everyone partying with flipping fireworks in the air like the scenes George Lucas added to Episode 6... ?

Although I was able to see the entire movie without hitting the restroom, I feel that I need to see it again as I’m sure I missed some things.

If you haven’t seen it, be forewarned, it’s about 2.5 hours long, 3 with the previews/trailers. You shouldn’t miss the last 1.5 hours so there are only 2 or 3 “good times” during the first hour that you can take a bio break. Check the web if you want to know when these points are.

Idk I've heard some pretty mixed reviews about SW. I wanted to take my daughter to see it but heard there is some SJW and lesbian kiss scenes so think I will pass. The last few SW movies have been kind of meh IMO.

I found a clip of the moment you're concerned about. There's one lesbian kiss scene about 2 or 3 seconds long near the end. It was a non sexual moment of celebration type kiss.

"Don't fuck with Cats" is a must watch! Holy smokes what a crazy story. 3 part series on Netflix.

The kiss in SW was in a very short clip, if you blink you may miss it.

I saw Bad Boys III (Bad Boys for Life) recently. It's a lot like Bad Boys I and II. Lots of action little plot/story. It kept me interested but I doubt it will win any awards.

I saw “Muse”, the Kobe Bryant story as told by Kobe, released in 2015 before he decided to retire from the NBA. If you have 90 minutes, it’s worth the time.

Also just saw “the rhythm section” with Blake Lively. A lot like the movie “Point of No Return” with Bridget Fonda in the late 80s early 90s but Blake Lively starts out as a meth addicted prostitute who is not a natural born killer like Bridget’s character. Worthy the matinee price of $8.50 but not the full price ($15ish).

1917 was good. Kind of like private ryan but not as intense.

Knives out.. that was fantastic!

Not a movie, but McMillions is a new documentary series just started on HBO and it's really great! Never knew the whole McDonald's Monopoly game was scammed for so long!! I would have saved a ton of calories not eating that garbage had I known.

I enjoyed 1917, but wasn't crazy about it. I'd give it a B-, while I give Saving Private Ryan an A. It just didn't have enough of a plot to carry it for as long as it was.

Watched "Once Upon a Time In Hollywood"....strange movie....some are raving about it too. C+ for me.

Gonna have to check out "Don't Fuck with Cats".... @BigN8 is it wife friendly or I wait for her to go out of town?

Do need another good series. Enjoyed the new "Lost In Space" give it a B to B+.
Still binge watching TWD (the walking dead) while I am mon the elliptical....middle of season 5 so far. Much better character development than I would have guessed for a zombie series!
Also still watching Dexter every now and then....but it is getting stranger.

1917 had amazing cinematography. Nearly every scene blew my mind. Story/plot was the weakness in that film.
