Just picked up a 195 Impulse HO, has the kicker system... None of hte buttons on the sony radio work, except for the volume control... the remote button sets at the helm and transom work fine, and the infrared remote works... just wondering if anyone else had trouble with the faceplate.
tried a reset and blowing on the contacts...
other than that i was also wondering what the purpose of the Knob next to the USB and 12VDC port is for?

Lastly what GPS are you guys runnning? i just ordered a Garmin 50s, it's a little big, hopefully i can find a spot for it.
Can't wait to get it out on the water this friday!

@ScarabMike

I would think a quick trip to the dealer would have this resolved instantly.

Yeah, let the dealer handle it, get it on record that you had an issue.

More importantly, picturrrreeeessss. :)

Congrats on the new boat! Yours and the chapparal vrx are the two I'm agonizing over.

First of all Welcome to the site!!

The faceplate prob needs to be replaced. That shouldnt be an issue as the radio is quite common. The knob next to the USB is the volume for the wake tower speakers.

Im curious where you purchased the boat from, and did they do a final inspection/check before they delivered it. They would have caught these issues then, and gone over the boat with you. Scarab makes them fill out a checklist before delivery that the salesman has to sign.

Be sure to let us know how Scarab and your dealer treat you and handle the situation. Also, if you don't mind me asking, with the premium stereo upgrade and tower speakers, do they outfit dual batteries? Cross-shopping the new Rotax jet boat brands, I noticed Chapparal mentions this. Wasn't sure if this was a nice feature only they throw in, or if Scarab and Glastron do it also but don't boast about it?

From the Chapparal build site for the 2o3 VRX:

I have the upgraded sound system and speakers. There are three amps powering each separate zone, with the tower speakers having a separate volume control. My boat didnt come with the dual battery option, but as they use a very common battery switch, its extremely simple to install the second battery.

Glastron upgraded audio is a stern remote and a bazooka tube. I don't think the factory ships Glastron with tower speakers. The battery is just a standard single starter (assuming this comes from the factory, the dealer could very well just install the cheapest one they can get).

I bought it at marine max in norwalk CT, they did give a checklist sheet.
the faceplate display works and volume knob works, just all the other buttons don't work.
Dealer looked at it friday and will most likely get a new faceplate or radio.
thanks for the info on the knob controlling the wake tower speakers, i didnt realize that.

anyone have pics of their GPS on their scarab? there's no great spot for it...

I replicated your issues today on the radio. There is a setting that its defaulted to that does that I believe. My faceplace lights up, but the controls are defaulted to the remotes. I dont mind because Im going to upgrade to the lcd remotes.

As far as my GPS, ill get out there tonight and snap a picture of my GPSMAP 78SC mount. Its a suction cup mount that I place on the left side of the dash.

wait so your radio does the same thing?
i unplugged the remote wire and the buttons on the faceplate still don't work.

Welcome aboard @GIII . . . . . Sorry your first post is one where you are having difficulty, but glad you found us.

ahh not a big deal at all in the grand scheme of things... boat is awesome, can't wait to get past break in.

Speaking of which. . . . . @ScarabMike you break that bitch in yet?

I had an issue with the wake tower speakers not working properly...they were just playing an echo of the music...I took it back and they corrected the issue. I tried myself in the beginning but it proved to be a little more than I was willing to F up more. I plan to rip out the Kicker amps and put in Alpine amps....Scarab sent me a second sub and amp for the headache of having to take the boat back to the dealer. Yes, I constructively complained about a few flaws that I had to take the boat back for. I asked Scarab if I could get a discount on a second sub and amp if I went through them and they just sent them both for free.

Who did you talk to at Rec Holdings (What method?)

I only ask because your hassle going back to the dealer seems less than my hassle of a late delivery because of a factory screw up, then having to take the boat back to get the GPS/Speedo replaced, followed by the dealer putting in too much oil at the 10 hour (and subsequent return to have them pull out over 1/2 quart) seems like I should get a sub too! ;)

I have sent numerous messages through their website (Glastron), and have only received on response ("you should take it to the dealer"), and have need received a reply to further questions regarding that email.

Hey sorry to hear your troubles. We had more issues and ended up making a few trips so it was not just that one.I emailed the rep directly. I was very tactful about it and I really would have paid if I could only get a discount. My suggestion would be to contact the dealer and ask for the reps email and that you just want to let him know that you had those issues.
