On water. Blown fuse. Need help!

So out on the lake. Right engine won't start (no cranking at all). Checked cutoff, safety switch.

Opened ECU found blown yellow 20 A fuse.

2 questions

Why would his blow?

Is there a spare on the boat? I can't find one.

This post indicates that there should be a spare: The fuse is externally accessible and a spare should be stored in the housing. Each engine has its own ECU and the engine would not start of it were blown.

I'm not sure a blown ECU fuse would stop the engine from turning over. Check rear hatch to make sure locked down and push down the rear hatch switch manually on the engine side that wont start and have someone try and turn over while holding down.

Swap out fuse with other side just to see if that is the problem. I'll check my boat for extra fuse now.

I don't know of any spare fuses. But check the big red cables that go to the starter to make sure they are routed OVER the shaft shields behind the engine, rather than between the shaft and the shield.

Also check battery connections.

Loose connection happened to me this past weekend. One engine wouldn't start. Tightened the battery connections, and both engines then fired right up.

Should be a spare in the round cover behind engine where all you're ECU stuff is located. Let us know how you make out.

Confirmed will not crank with blown 20a fuse in ECU box. There should be a spare below the fuse location

@Eric Popper What was going on when this quit? Did you get into some rough water or jump a wake? There should be a spare fuse under the ECU fuse cap. If you can't find it look for a spare under the cap of the other engine. Keep us up to date on your progress.

I do not have a pic however, look where your flush line hose meets at the (y). You want to block it off at the lower end of y. The end toward the back of the boat. There is only a small area to pinch off. Do you have pinch off plyers?

So here's the deal.

First of all, I am humbled by all of the responses.

The 20A fuse is blown. No q about it.

There is no spare 20A on either engine. I've owned the boat 3 years and never even looked in the ECU before today.

Idling back to the marina right now.

I don't want to swap the good one as if it blows too then we are really done.

Pinching water line now for quicker return.

We were towing tube on mostly smooth water and stopping and going to retrieve kids as they fell. Stopped motors for retrieval and it wouldn't start.
