OOPS!!!!!

Ouch.....what's that gonna cost?

Cost $65 bucks. Had a spare. Shop opened at 8am had it off by 830. Vacation saved. Lake dropped 3 ft from start to end of day. My dad Co owner of the moomba did it. So I get to give him enormous amounts of shit. $160 or so to fix it at home.

That is the true definition of " breaking in your boat".

Well now that is outta the way....

Those props look expensive, aren't those like $500+ ?
$65 was just a fee to swap it, right? And $160 fix is also very cheap.
Impellers are harder to deal with, if you want a perfect job welding to bring the OD to specs is usually required. Most of the time it ends up being cheaper to just buy new (impeller).

It was $589 on sale. Yes $65 for the swap. $160 is average it seems from moomba FB page and forum. I'll get a better estimate tomorrow and update. It does seem OEM impellers are best and cheaper than a fix. Why is that?

Pricing of yamaha impellers varies widely for MYs but in most cases it is possible to get those around $200 shipped.

Properly done rebuild/refurbish includes welding to OD specs, so by the time that’s done with shipping both ways it will usually top $200.

I have tested numerous professionally repitched impellers in my single engine 190. New, unmolested OEM impellers would typically perform best. One exception could be when repitching for high altitude but that’s a different animal.

Also need to consider your own time and work involved. Some impellers can be difficult to “break” to pull off of the shaft in Yamaha. To the point it can be grotesque, lol. So, by the time you’re done pulling a sucker off and messing with the pump dis/re-assembly and sealing everything - 200 bucks starts looking reasonable, or at least not so bad - for getting a sure thing of a result.

With the vdrive or inboard it’s a matter of using a prop puller. About a 15 minute job from what I’ve seen.

I need to get me a spare in case I ding mine. Sorry to see yours got dinged. Thankfully they haven’t begun lowering the water level here on the reservoir lakes yet. Called my dealer and they finished my boat yesterday. They’ll wash her today and I will be picking her up tomorrow on my way to our weekend vacation on Lake Martin. Can’t wait to finally get back on the water!! Hope you get back on the water soon.

awesome stoked you got her before the vacation. Wakemakers has em on sale. I even got my next day for a few extra bucks.

That didn't take long...must be too used to a jet boat....amateurs..:p

The person who did this never drove my jet boat. But OK

Why? Its his boat. He paid to fix it. Why do you think people carry spare props? Shit happens. It was a cheap fix. But thanks for your useless opinion.

Keep it simple!!

That’s stupid easy lol. Nice they sell a kit too.
Last time I did anything like this was the Hyfax on my 2010 Polaris Dragon 163... used a Slide hammer and a screw.

The mechanic used a torch and mallet.

Your attitude is on the side of ridiculous.

Useless original post...

I have seen a few posts about yamaha jet boats. Normally it's to upgrade to a tow boat. I'm only still here due to being asked to stay and keep posting. If you don't like the post no reason to reply.
