I built a very similar patio a couple years ago, good taste in stone!
Our crew just finished. I think it turned out great. We are happy.
I wish I could take more credit for the design.

My wife bought a new tool for herself.

@zipper , industrial sewing machine! My first guess was sewing machine when I saw the pedal but I didn’t really think that was what it was given it’s size. I’ve seen much smaller embroidery machines for $15k, I imagine your wife’s new tool is up there in cost, definitely not something you can buy at Joanne’s Fabrics. What is she going to see with it? A new set of sails?

@zipper Can I place my order for custom side curtains and back extension of my Bimini now? :)

It is a nice machine, she is smiling so far. It took a few hours to set it up. Plowed thru 5 layers of sunbrella like nothing. These can be bought for +/- $2k new. Hers was a few hundred -, with the bench. It is a compound walking machine. Great for sewing different materials together which the Sailrite had issues with slipping. The feed dog, the needle and the needle foot walk together unlike the Sailrite. This will also sew leather. She will keep the Sailrite beacuse of it's zigzag capabilities for making sails and repairing them, which the Juki 1541S does not have.

Funny, TBA later. She will be attending a canvas and upholstery school for a week in June in Ohio to increase her knowledge of marine canvas/vinyl sewing. They use the same machine. She is already thinking about extending shade on boats as a starter. Who knows where it will go. We may get a tubing bender also. We will have to figure out a fairly universal design as not many factory bimini's have extra zippers sewn into them to hang/attach extra stuff as our custom ones do. And she has to finish our sailboat first.

Not to high Jack the thread but I am amazed at how sewing machines work after having to fiddle with my wife’s embroidery machine a few times. All the synchronization that has to happen just to sew a patch on or hem pant legs. Being a seamstress requires a lot of skill and an artistic side. I didn’t flinch when my custom Bimini, extension and boot came in at $1,500 and am not surprised when I hear people getting quotes of $3k to $5k to have their boats reupholstered. Good luck to your wife @zipper , sounds like it could be another revenue stream.

Got my new toy delivered today. 2021 Mahindra emax20s.
Finally broke down and got one. Sick of having my hands hurt for weeks after shoveling by hand.
I have plenty of use for it. It just fits under the Deck with the roll bar folded

Sorting thru some old T shirts and came across this one from a few years back. I played for "The Dogs Of War" for a while. I gugld "The Sink Hole City Classic Ultimate Frisbee" and came up with nothing. @slickstick Would you know if there is still a club team at UCF?

Sitting here at the clinic after getting the Pfizer COVID vaccine. Now just waiting for the all clear to leave.

I got my second dose of Moderna on Sunday, knocked me flat on my ass, lol.

I would estimate it was about 2x as bad as the effects of the first dose; no fever, just chills and aches; fortunately it was short-lived misery and I was back to normal by Tuesday - just hydrated and slept it off.

I had not formally tested positive in the past, may or may not have had the infection, I'm pretty sure I've had to be exposed at work at some point but it's just a guess. Don't want to lecture, bottom line is - those side effects, painful as they are, are a clear sign the vaccine is doing what it's designed to do.
Now - I'm done. My chances of being a carrier, leave alone shedding the virus, are so vanishingly low, pretty close to zero.

need to see some pics of the boat in use! awesome. I need to convince the admiral
Here’s some from the past few days. Cruised Destin Harbor and checked things out. Nice houses & VERY nice boats. Even spotted a few with sails that I thought @zipper would want to see. Headed back to the gulf for a while today. Headed east to Miramar Beach area in about 3ft seas. Kids thought it was great but mom, not so much. Seen more dolphins & a big a$$ sea turtle.
Crab Island was hoppin like always and the Law was out in force. Overall a great time down here, unfortunately the weather is supposed to turn. High of low 60’s with wind 25/35 knots. Looks like we’re going to be riding go-karts & heading to Bass Pro.

I’ve heard that with the Moderna. Same story with one of my wife’s coworkers tbh. what was strange is she felt fine for 2 days after the shot but on the 3rd day she said it wiped her out. She woke up the next day completely normal feeling.

I‘m hoping my second dose of Pfizer goes smooth lol. Our second shot is on the 10th I think. The first one I was fine other than it was real sore at the injection site for several days, way more sore than flu shot. My wok is giving out incentives of $25,000 in cash to 10 winners. So far only 50 or so have entered so that is pretty good odds. Top raffled prize is $5k each for the first two winners!
