70+° here today. The ice is going out on one of our beaver ponds. Just jumped up a pair of mallards as I approached. I can hear the Spring peepers today.

Y’all might have seen on news we’ve had tornadoes last week and also yesterday in Bama. Widespread damage from a few of them yesterday. My daughter and in-laws had one pass about a mile north that crossed the entire width of the state as a tornado and at about 5:30 or so we had another tornado come about a mile south of our house. Crazy weather this time of year in the south!

A friend of mine does drone footage for a living and got some amazing footage as it cross over the interstate. This was the one that was about a mile down from our neighborhood.

Glad you made it through those terrible storms. Hopefully that will be the only tornados for the season.

Wow that is a huge base. Prayers for all

Yea it was pretty big. The hook on the radar signature told me all I needed to know and that it was a good sized tornado. I went in the backyard as it was going by and you could smell earth (dirt, pines etc) in the air. Wind and rain direction would change as it was going by! My neighborhood is right around where the “K” is in “AccuTrack” logo on the left side. Look at that hook echo! You could feel it pull from my house as the wind rushed that way then changed directions as it passed by. Crazy!

We had over 20 tornadoes yesterday and many were long track ones. Last week I think we had over 25 tornadoes as well, so we are on quite the pace for 2021 lol 296607C1-4A29-43D4-9B49-7AB3CEA04190.jpeg

This was the other tornado that was near my daughter and in-laws house. It’s rain wrapped so you can’t see it but this one did a lot of damage and grew and shrunk all across the state and into Georgia. A0725882-580A-441B-82F2-C5F4F96C973B.jpeg

Another 5000 gallon load of sap leaving the farm. Right now I am getting about a gallon per tap every 24hrs. It's been like this all week. Around 43,000#'s of sap alone on the truck. The driveway is starting to show it.

Ya, busy. I just had my organic certification inspection after the truck pulled out. Found two leaks to plug on a walk thru of the bush. Passed, no issues. The second clap of thunder a 1/2 mile away made us walk a little faster towards the exit. Pay increase?....BaaaHaaHaaHaa! Funny.

my boys love maple syrup from up there. Always have a friend bring back a gallon. Not cheap but very good!

That will give you a sugar coma. That is why I don't eat pancakes very much. They put me to sleep.

I just went and fixed those two leaks that I found with the organic inspector. I had been running all week at 26". Pretty psyched, to reach a solid 27" and get there with only two leaks. Chores are done, time for a beer or two...It's 5 o'clock somewhere.

Pics are pouring in from Clanton area which is where Lake Mitchell is. I grew up on this lake and it’s a tight knit southern community. Really hate it for the folks near Cargile slough as it got hit pretty good. Lots of damaged near the pump house. Folks are saying there is a diesel smell and that a sheen can be seen in the water. The pump house feeds lake water to a water treatment facility and then it’s fed back to the folks on the lake. Sucks to see damage like this :(

Devastation is indescribable. Hearts go out to these people who have lost (almost) everything. So sad...

Major progress on the new patio, in the last few days.
I must say, watching the work it's almost unbelievable the large amount of material that's going into it, in various layers, hauled in by a truckload.
We must have one of the best crews in the area, doing precision work.

I built a very similar patio a couple years ago, good taste in stone!
