Funny, the store here in So. Burlington had no clothing or fishing gear. Small store that did alot of pick up in store orders from the website.
Cleaning, fiberglass and gelcoat repair, oil and spark plugs, wire, a lot of fittings and blocks for sailboats, hardware, fenders, ground tackle, etc. Pricing was higher than Defender, but they do price match. I did get a 40-60% discount when I worked there in the first half of 2025 and bought a lot of Victron equipment, Isotemp hot water heater for the refit of the PDQ.
Some here. We (lower Delaware) will become somewhat of a marine store desert if our local West Marine (Rehoboth) closes. While I do some shopping on-line, I like being able to buy stuff in person.

In today’s episode of “just send it” we have this Yamaha Hero at Haulover! The chic is gonna need to get her entire spine readjusted, I’m curious to know if the plugs stayed in, and why in hell is there a football official on board??!!! Hopefully he threw a flag for “roughing the passenger”!!

Wow -- that bow has 10-15 of air below it! Reminds me of the spy photos taken while Yamaha was testing the new hulls in heavy surf.

Looks like his engine or engines died because of the clean out hatch came up. Definitely not to smart. Wouldn't doubt there is hull cracks or damage

This a drag…. Confusing wording of the article, says they’re going to drain the lake down fully but go ahead and make summer lake recreation plans. Are “they” going to bring in a water truck and refill the lake?

Then last night a friend showed me a fb post from Rapid City PD that said the outflow had been increased from 25 cfs to 80 for water rights downstream???!! Wonder which one it is. The outflow had been cut down to 25 cfs a while back and I thought that some intelligence had come to managing the reservoir to hold back water and let it fill for use later in the summer but apparently not. All I can hope for is a lot of summer thunderstorms. Last year those thunderstorms, 7th wettest July on record, helped to keep the lake at -10’.

While it’s early days, there is a significant El Niño brewing in the eastern pacific. Early indications it is the strongest since recording began and the strongest since 1870. If it continues to grow there could be a lot of water for the Colorado, Green and Missouri River water sheds in addition to the local watersheds. The record high water level at Pactola was recorded in 2015.

Pretty slick! Nice way to never have to worry about getting the rope stuck in the prop or it getting sucked up into the jet pumps.

I had no idea that an 800 acre lake could/would have a liner. I had a 1/2 acre pond with a liner on the dam but 800 acres is impressive!

I am surprised as well. The pictures shown in the article to me are weird, I’ve seen the shoreline when the water is down and there is no evidence of a liner, but dunno maybe it’s buried. And people anchor in the lake as well..

Also interesting that I forgot to mention above, the seasonal docks that are coveted and have a 10 year waiting list are all in place and there a lot of boats in them already. Between late September and whenever the ice has come off the lake, the docks are anchored in the marina area but are inaccessible by foot, a great place to practice docking skills.

Anyone who wants a dock to launch with has to go to the south marina as the north marina ramp is out of the water and unless we get a lot of rain will remain out just like it did last year. You can launch from the north side you just have to do it off the gravel, and, you are not supposed to use the “private” docks to assist you in launching. A lot of people use them as do I for launching and retrieving, the problems come when people pull in next to slip holders boats and their kids explode all over the dock and onto other peoples boats. There is a dock master of sorts that is an old guy who parks his motorhome there for the summer and sort of runs the show. So, as per usual, a poorly written newspaper article with conflicting details and now the new twist of the water rights people down stream. I do know there is certain depth that the lake will get to and the water rights end, I think it is called minimum conservation pool, and the outflow is cut down to just enough to keep Rapid Creek fish healthy.

We shall see how things go for the summer. Sheridan Lake is another 10 minutes down the road, and Deerfield Lake is up high in the hills and is about 45 mins to a hour away, but both those lakes lie on the other side of this rather large construction area and there are pilot cars during the day, easy enough to avoid in the morning, just hit the road by 0630 and come home after 1830 I think and you just have to drive on the dirt road. The road definitely needed a shoulder for safety reasons, but they have also straightened the road out, taking what was a picturesque drive through the forest and made it like a highway and the reason for that was because people who come here on their Harleys run out of talent and “fail to negotiate a turn”, run off the road and die, most are intoxicated.

Motored all the way up, no wind. The lake was glass. We chose that weather window for that reason. Did not want to start the season pounding in 3-4'ers.

Just talked to one of my friends who has lived here his whole life and he was at a meeting the other night and talked with a BOR engineer and he told him the story about the tear in the liner at Pactola is fake news. Who does that kind of shit? I mean really, what kind of twisted mf’er would do stuff like that.

So now just have to deal with the fact that the ranchers down stream are pulling their water rights and the reservoir is dropping. They do this so they do not have to pump their water from underground. So instead of saving the water in the lake for later in the season they will just take it now. It’s a first world problem but it is near and dear to my heart. The one thing I do know from tracking down the person at the BOR, Bureau of Reclamation, that once the lake reaches minimum conservation pool their water rights are shut off… I don’t know how low that lake level is though.
