Had an overtemp alarm go off so working on clearing that out. Flush hose may not have had enough flow. The engine only ran for about 30 seconds thankfully.

I had the boat on a brackish "lake" for about an hour and flushed when I got home. The engine was still warm. My hose water flow may not have been high enough.

That still seems very fast to get an overheat warning even without any water.. did the other engine not get an overheat alarm when you flushed it? Were you getting water out of the pilot outlet?

No issues with the opposite engine. Water was coming out of the pisser on the STBD side. The only thing I can think of is I hooked up one of those siphon devices that lets the hose draw in anti-corrosive treatment liquid and it slowed the flow way down. But it was not set up like that for very long. Will fully disconnect the batteries tonight and see what happens.
 
Usually takes 5 cycles of battery on, engines on, engines off, batteries off, batteries on etc.. to clear an alarm that’s locked on the screen. That alarm will remain in the computer though.
 
I got it to clear! I disconnected the batteries but the code still came back when I re-attached the negatives. I started the engine, turned on the water and let it run for a minute or so. Water off, engine off. I am not sure at what point the code went away but when I cycled the ignition I noticed it did not reappear. It just needs time rather than cycles but that may just be a single data point in my case. Whew.

What type of siphon valve set up were you using? Maybe you had the selector in between salt away and flush which cut the water way down. The one that comes with salt away will flow enough to cool the engine.

In my experience, even when there is not enough water flow to make water flow out of the pilot outlet ONCE THE THERMOSTAT IS OPEN there is still ample water flow out of the cooling water outlet up under the swim deck above the jet pump outlet to cool the engine, as well, there will be enough cooling water coming of the exhaust which has its own temperature sender and if gets too hot will send its own high temp alarm but that is not discernible on the connext screen, the connext just lets you something is too hot.

I still find it amazing it got hot enough in 30 seconds to throw an alarm.

The boat was recently in the water when I was flushing so already hot. That was Sunday when it threw the initial code. The hose without the siphon setup (I used the inline valve) has enough flow to come out of the pisser strongly. I wish this boat had temp gauges. If I get an alarm on the water, it would be nice to know what is actually going on. I have the Simrad screen but I don't believe that has any engine data linkage.

To be clear, you had two hoses, I assume both hoses were the same and fed from the same spigot, and the only difference was the siphon bottle and its valve were the only difference, and that is quantified by the overheat condition that happened on one engine and not the other that recently been in use? Did you try just letting the water flow onto the ground?

No, just 1 hose from the house supply. On the end of the hose was the siphon container and the Yamaha flushing fitting. For yesterday's engine run I only had the inline valve on the hose before the Yamaha fitting. 1 engine at a time. I read that or watched a video and was trying to be as careful as possible.
