"No one moderator will ever make a descision to suspend or ban a member." - Julian had no idea EvilSports was banned. So I guess one person did it on their own?
@Bruce - this entire thread has been off-topic for as long as I've been here, as the OP so graciously pointed out. Please elaborate on the approved topic.

While we wait on that - the warning system they created basically allows a mod to ban a member without consenting with the others. For example, a mod could just send out multiple warnings on one user, thus triggering the automatic ban.

It's illuminating that this thread is still open, being as divisive as it is. Clearly it's purpose is to maintain a pro-vax crusade despite negatively impacting the stated focus of this forum. Looking at that 3rd bullet, @Bruce, perhaps you should apply the site rules to this thread and close it down as many, including the OP, have requested?
Sorry, but I don't understand this comment. The moderators have noted in the past that given the public health significance this thread would stay open. For those folks who don't want to see the thread, especially it repeatedly popping to the top of the What's new page, they added an ignore thread option. Is the ignore thread option not working?

At the risk of an off-topic reply to your off-topic reply of a marginally topical post, I never said I wanted to ignore the thread. I said it's a divisive discussion that doesn't align with the stated focus of the forum. I really don't know how to put it any more clearly than I did. Which part was confusing?
It's absolutely baffling to me that a group of adults cannot muster the willpower to avoid voluntarily participating in a thread they seem to feel so persecuted in. Just don't click it. Give it a whirl. It's not that hard.
I quickly skimmed the last four pages, interesting. In other news, I will be getting my Pfizer booster on Friday morning. I let you know if my privates swell up???
It seems if they had to do it all over again, Pfizer probably would have had a higher dose and waited longer in between shots, but never the less the decreasing effectiveness makes me want the booster for my winter travels.

Agree, I got the J&J just because it was the first available appointment back in April. Hindsight being 20/20, Moderna would have been better. I'm waiting to hear what the wisdom is on mixing and matching, as I'd like the Moderna next....but the doses may need to be different when you mix and match? They are apparently doing studies on mixing them (according to the news last night).

@Julian J&J has submitted an EUA to the FDA for booster approval. I expect that two doses of J&J would be quite protective as is suggested in the press releases. The J&J vaccine being delivered by a virus should get the immune system started creating a larger response to the corona spike like proteins when they appear. Plus the non integrating DNA fragments delivered by the J&J vaccine are likely to continue to cause production of spike like proteins longer than the mRNA delivered by Pfizer and Moderna.
I had Moderna, if I had a choice of booster it would be Pfizer. Cross vaccine boosters are unlikely to be authorized without further study. Regardless many have taken cross boosters without authorization. I will likely have a semi quantitative SARS-CoV-2 antibody test before taking a booster.
My thinking is that longer term research will find that more frequent small doses of mRNA vaccines will result in a greater balance between efficacy and adverse events. We might see a few or even a dozen targets addressed in a primarily flu and coronavirus annual vaccination without preservatives or other substances that have been a concern with past vaccines. The freezers installed for CoVID vaccinations will make this possible in developed countries.

I have no insight into Pfizer's reasoning, and I don't know if it is true, but I have read in the news on-line that Pfizer went with a lower dose vaccine than Moderna to minimize possible side effects of the vaccine. This may have led to a faster EUA for their vaccine. According to CDC, however, both vaccines have about the same, minimal, side effects.
Personally, I have the Moderna vaccine and my wife had the Pfizer vaccine. We both got whichever vaccine was made available to us. I got mine a couple of weeks earlier due to different eligibility. We will both likely get boosters when they are made available to us.
I got Moderna and my wife got pfizer. I had the standard moderate side effects...chills and slight fever after the second shot. My wife had zero side effects. I had no idea about the amount difference between them, but I can't imagine the average person does, or even would know what it means. Polling friends and family, Moderna did seem to have more of those immediate, moderate, side effects.
@scbruet, Moderna's dose is 100mg while Pfizer's is 30mg. Both use a quite similar mRNA so Moderna's dosage contains approximately 3.3 times the volume of mRNA that Pfizer does.
Moderna is suggesting a 50mg booster which is still larger than Pfizer.
I was aware that the Moderna dosage was larger when I was vaccinated in January. I took Moderna as the first vaccine that was available to me. It was the end of vials that would have been wasted.
