There had been an earlier post about changing regulations and approval of products by the FDA. I just wanted to add that regulations change over time. Old regulations are sometimes repealed and/or replaced. FDA Regulations (and guidance) are based on science and current industry manufacturing abilities. Sometimes when manufacturing abilities change, related regulations may also change. Regarding approval of new products, a fast track review process for drugs and vaccines has existed at the FDA for quite some period of time. Both are guided by public health.

LOL, We do have bathrooms with no designation, we all eat at the same time, they do not sell soda. If the science (not the government) states I need a booster so I can live, I have no problem with that. The government is not telling you to do anything except what the science states. You fail to see this is not about losing your FREEDOMS. This is about saving peoples lives. That's it!!! I wish more people could see...hear... and understand this. I lost my brother to this fucking decease and it makes me sick with peoples/your arrogance. How much is your FREEDOM worth if you're dead? Or how about you passing it onto a loved one that dies. How would that make you feel? Thank GOD you got your FREEDOM!!!!

Tell me, how many people in the military, that fought for our/your FREEDOM, are vaccinated. I heard up to 17 or 18 vaccinations before deployment depending on where they're heading to? Damn!!!! People who fight to keep you FREE are vaccinated. I sure hope you are and return the favor.

In-person learning was severely reduced during the 2020/2021 school year by California state university’s 20+ campuses. My son spent his first year of college at home in NCal instead of in a dorm in Scal. We just got an email that proof of Covid vaccination is due on 8/16 which was extended from 8/10. This is the first notice we received about this or anything from the school in over 6 months. We will be returning from our vacation on 8/16 so will be asking my SIL to locate, copy and sent my son’s vaccination card in. If he had to I bet my son would cut his last vacation with us short just to send his vaccination card in on time. As he put it, he is “… ready to get the F out of here.”

I'll bet you can go to any drug store (big chain - CVS, Walgreens etc) and get the vaccine.....your challenge will be he won't be fully vaccinated until he has both shots. If this is a last minute requirement from the school....not sure how they handle that. The only alternative would be to get the J&J (which is what I got), but it isn't as good.

I'll bet you can go to any drug store (big chain - CVS, Walgreens etc) and get the vaccine.....your challenge will be he won't be fully vaccinated until he has both shots. One concern about rapid home testing is that I wonder if how many cases will not be logged due to this? But cool nonetheless.

I wish there were meaningful data but there are too man confounding factors.

For example the amount of viral material that enters the body is a major contributor to severity of illness. With sufficient viral material the healthiest vaccinated person can have a severe presentation or with a sufficiently small amount of viral material the unhealthiest person could have minimal symptoms.

Agreed. There has to be some level of correlation between a hard hit from the virus and some personal identifier. I have to think someone somewhere is looking into it, but I'm not sure we have any way of knowing until results are released.

Yup....its a needle in a haystack. So many variables and so much data (although not enough) make it a long and arduous slog to find those answers. Just the genomic part of the equation is massive! At my company we've been working on ways to connect genomic data to healthcare systems doctors use every day, but these use cases are so narrow now that the value isn't huge yet. But as we start to map the genome better, knowing your genomic make up will become more important. It is already important for cancer (chemo) treatments - they know that some chemo doesn't work on people of a particular genomic make up.

Yeah I'd love to know too. Covid went through our house long before vaccines were available, lost their taste and smell and sick in bed for days. I took care of them all. Figured being in the same small house there was no way around getting it in this situation so I didn't bother with any precautions at all for myself. Never got anything. How? Why? My wife, son and I have been fully vaccinated for months. We are not worried about that. My son is so ready to go to college he probably would have consented to two doses of straight mercury. Im Just sharing what the largest university system in CA is doing when it comes to vaccinations. Unlike my employer they didn’t mention anything about being excused from complying because of religious reasons or pre-existing health conditions.
