Wake Booster

I'm so tempted to take a flyer on this package. I planned on purchasing a new surf board anyway, something that would have a little more speed/push. I know I won't get the type of wave that the swim deck bag and wedge provides but what really interests me is the convenience of the booster in comparison. We typically have a number of kids on the boat into skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, surfing and we have a mix of surfers on both goofy and standard sides. So the convenience of switching modes between sides and activities quickly is so appealing to me. Wish there were some vids out there showing what the built in ballast does with it.

I'll assume that's a 242X and not a 212X. They never show extended videos of anyone surfing behind a 212X.....I wonder why?

Do it! do it! do it!!!!! We need vids and a real review.

Remind the wife it is an essential safety mod. Those ballast bags can kill you. You are doing it for the kids!

I'm not sure how well this link will work... But Leonard Maraist, the owner of New Orleans Power Sports posts regularly on the jetboaters Facebook page. Here's a link to one of the posts that he shared during the Yamaha boats 2019 model release dealer event where the booster revealed and demoed.

In another post earlier this month he shared the same video with me in a reply to one of my comments and elaborated further. It was on a 2018 242X with just a few people on board and stick ballast full.

Here's a couple of screen grabs for those who don't have FB or the link doesn't work out.

@swatski I would guess that there are better (faster, for jet drives, that is) boards, if only for the design of the tail. The pin tail is the slowest type (vs straight, etc.) Here is a good write up...

Yeah I've always heard that pin tail was the slowest of the board shapes as well, but I hesitant to argue with Slingshot who designed and tested this board saying that it has performed better further back and on small wakes then any other board they have produced. Guessing there is more to it than the tail, they indicated that it simply coasts forever. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I confirmed with my dealer that he will have 5 of the packages coming in early February, and I'm first on the list. So if I get a a wet suit from Santa, I'll try it out. If not, it'll collect dust until at least late March.

Wow, that vid @Julian posted looks pretty good, definitely most promising of what I have seen so far.

I know, right?
We use the Hyperlite Quad, which is supposedly among the fastest, and it works really well. Kind of why I wonder about the Yamaha/Slingshot deal... They may know something we don't.
Only one way to find out!

Actually 2 ways
1. I spend my money
2. I wait for someone else to spend their money.
Damn my impatience! :D

Yamaha has said the Wakebooster, rope and board will be sold as an accessory package for $999 and should soon be at dealers.
I just contacted the dealer I bought our boat from and they said it is only being sold with 2019’s. Does anyone know when they will offer the package without buying a boat?

Find another dealer. They are gonna be offered as a stand alone package. My dealer just told me last week that he should start getting the packages the first week of February. He promised I would have one. :)

Just forwarding along what my dealer just told me... Their Yamaha rep told them these won't be readily available until January. At first they must be ordered in combination with the dealers new 2019 boat orders so they intend to order the booster accessory package for every Yamaha boat they order knowing they will sell some separately through their parts department and some in combination with new boat sales.

Put deposit down on the Wake Booster package at Nashville Boat Show yesterday through Anderson Marine.

They indicated delivery between end of February to first of March.

How much was it?

LOL this video was shot at Park Marina in Acworth, GA. My wet slip is just over under the red arrow. Too bad I wasn't around or I would of had some questions!

Hey Matt, I'm close to getting a 242 S E and I'm looking at the Park Marine slips and dry stack storage options. Any words of wisdom?

Park Marina is great. Kept my 242 in a 30x12 covered slip on a floating lift. Get prices from other marinas and they will match if other marinas are cheaper. At least they did for me the first year I was there. They have several events and parties throughout the year for members which is cool too.
