2018 Bimini June trip (June 24th - June 30th)

Hope everyone makes it home safe and with an uneventful journey, other than the torrential rains in north Florida.

1 hr outside of Raleigh...almost home!

Made it to Tampa.... Boat cleaned and flushed. Only issue right now is damn Audi windshield wiper on passenger side died on the way - this is the 2nd time that wiper motor has died.

And CBP Roam is awesome! I submitted at the entrance to Port Everglades and they connected to us with video chat in the channel on the way to Harbor Town. Very quick and easy.

2.5 hrs to go for us, no turning back now!

I don't think we had more than a 2 minute stretch of dry sky anywhere up Florida. What a way to turn a miserably long stretch of road into something even worse.

Good thing it looks like we do not have that problem for the return to Exuma next year. I will get with you guys in the next few weeks on it but sure looking forward to a nice easy 5 hour run to Staniels.

@bronze_10 we dipped the boat today to run her up/down the lake rinse cycle. My port engine did not want to start !!!! She grumbled a while and finially kicked. 2nd engine resisted a tad but started. Put a lump in my throat!

We ran her for about 8 miles at 25-30. Seems the speedo reads low vs the gps..... hit 49.4 mph on gps with a slight headwind and bimini up!!!

She’s back in her lair and will take the week off now

Our first clue was smelling gas. . Then a stumble start on the one engine.. Then it idled a little too low and then it wouldn't spin up like it should... Once it started it started showing signs it never ran right... I wish kine would have done it at home but when something like that hits.. U make the best decision u can and go with it. I'm gonna start looking at it tomorrow. Gonna clean everything tonight once the heat goes down..

Didn't do single engine.. I went ahead and ran the bad engine across... I left about 15 min ahead of the group and was able to keep up enough speed to stay in front of them.. They caught me just as I was in the no way zone in port everglades.. In flat calm seas with the trimntabs I could get on plane and go about 20 to 21 mph with only me on board with no gear. But it was all that one engine could do. It was at wot to do it. I don't think it would have lasted the crossing with it that rough. I don't think it would have stayed on plane either. So I ran the bad one and as soon as I reached port everglades I shut it down... I figured it was better to run it... Even if it blows up than to try one engine in rough seas. Even if it blew up half way it was half way that one engine would have to do the work. It made the trip but several tikes it surgered rpms real high and then feel back... I think the injector was opening and shutting. For the moat part the engine wanted to run around the 8100 mark so I put it there and left it.

The only thing left to do is to determine the cause and see what if any damage may have occurred! Hopefully it won't be a replacement but if it is, it didn't give up on me and it got me across and home safe!
