Air Pump for 3-person Tube

I have mine hardwired to the battery and permanently mounted under the seat. I use a long hose for inflating air toys. Very handy and out of the way. The underseat location dampens the noise. Cam.

Where did you find the longer hose?

We use a 12v Sevylor air pump for our paddle boards that require about 15psi for full inflation. The pump is used to inflate to 12 psi and the final 3psi is done with a hand pump. Although the pump is kinda loud, it is only on for 5mins. on the swim platform. With that I only need a few strokes with the hand pump to finish. The reviews on line about the air hose cracking and releasing pressure are true, ours cracked almost right out of the box, but I repaired it with a couple wraps of gorilla tape. Works good now. Saves a lot of hand pumping of two paddle boards. Less time pumping, more time paddling.

@jcyamaharider turned me on to that pump this summer. That thing rocks! Manually inflating two paddle boards was a workout!

This has been on my mod list for months. Since we inflate and deflate a 3 person tube alot, Ive been considering mounting the pump near the battery in our AR190 and then routing an air hose to a hard port right under the rear of the passenger bench seat. With a short smooth stub out id be able to simply pressure fit a hose onto the stub, have a separate three way toggle switch to power or reverse the fan, and only have to mess with a soft coil up 1.5" shop vac hose.

I like the 12HP pump by the way!

@Zeus2013 Yes powered by outlet on dash and no it does not drain my battery, it is not on longer than 5mins/paddle board.

Good for a paddle board but bad for the big 3 person tubes. It is a high pressure pump and not a high volume pump. I bought another 12 volt airhead pump for our big tube when the overtones pump went out.

I have the Overton's pump. I don't find it to be very loud at all.

Bumping this thread: Any new 12v, cig lighter adapter, air inflation/deflation devices you all are using? Seems to be the same model, different branding, on Amazon/Overtons.

I have totally dumped the wired approach and now just use a Dewalt compact 20V leaf blower with a large battery. Super fast (faster than any pump I've seen), and gets tubes hard.

That's excellent. Does it suck the air out at all, though? My wife likes her inflatables and I hate having them inflated whilst underway. (There's a joke in there somewhere...)

I have not used this yet on the water, just at home but it is my new go to wired pump. I got mine with an inflatable sup, similar units cost between $50 and $170 from Amazon. Pricey on the high end but worth it IMHO. It will easily pump a tube up to spec. I don’t think any of the cordless pumps I have will pump a sup to spec.

This is what I use. Simply because Ryobi makes so many different items using the same battery. It'll inflate and deflate . Also 2 different size nozzles

I have the Ryobi unit as well and love it for inflating tubes but I’m sure it would not inflate a sup to spec. Ryobi is Home Depot’s house brand, Lowes makes a similar unit under the Kobalt name. Something to keep in mind is that neither comes with a battery and charger so after you add in those cost the price doubles for the ryobi unit, not sure about the Kobalt but suspect it more than doubles since it uses a 24v battery unlike the Ryobi’s 18v. Lastly you can buy the ryobi unit from Home Depot For about $25, don’t know why it costs $43 on Amazon.

I don't think I paid that much for it, just trying to find what I had purchased. I have 9 other Ryobi tools and many batteries. For what 90% of the people here, it'd do and it's fast.

So... you use the pump to DEFLATE the tube, rather than having it be a chore that kids lie on top of the tube until it deflates at the end of the day. GOT IT! rarely a day goes by this site fails to make me feel stupid and elated at the same time!

this is what we use with a small inverter. Works great and has more than enough air to get tubes firm. Also sucks the air out.
