Damn, that sucks. I’m first in line at our dealership for the 25s they said. I put a deposit down in early June for a 242se, before they knew the change to the 25 was happening. Hopefully they can improve on that November/December timeline.

Having a 2015 242LE with some upgrades and great resale value, I am really curious about upgrading to a 25' boat. As my kids are getting older and want to surf easier, been thinking about an 'X'. Really hope the 25' is still a wakeboard boat and not closer to what the 275 is. I could see selling mine at the end of the season and planning on a 250x in the spring.

It will be interesting to see what the 25 footer features. Spent the weekend on my brother-in-laws new Moomba 24' surf boat. I was on record on here as saying surfing looked kind of boring. Well after trying it, I will take that back. There may be some limitations on what you can do on the board compared to a wakeboard or a slalom ski, but surfing is challenging. I got up first time and I was getting some decent stretches where the rope was completely slack, but it takes subtle, micro-adjustments to stay in that sweet spot on the wave. My BIL and SIL have it down and just get up, get on the wave and throw the rope in the boat. They have 4,400# with ballasts full and an additional 400# in steel weight, but it makes a huge, clean wake. Of course, it has to be nice to have the torque from that 6.2L Ford Raptor V8.

After the experience, I cannot imaging getting a wave like that from a jet boat. I don't think it would even be worth trying with an AR195. IMO

You would be surprised what the jet boats can do surf wise. Not the same league but not far off either.

The thing that does and always will hold back the jet boats is the wash. The reason that even the largest wake boats are single screw (some making 600 HP) is to center the prop wash (which is deep and further deflected with an adjustable plate) and get it away from the wave. Jets at the surface are inherently bad for wake shape no matter the hull shape or ballast. Possible, yes. But no one should ever buy a jet boat if the primary objective is surfing.

Maybe we should design big deflector tubes for the jet output to improve the wake. Put a huge tube off one of the engines that goes into the water and points up to make a better wake and use the other to push the boat forward. Practical...probably not, but fun dreaming.

80k to 90k for a 25' jet boat? It better create a surfable wave with the flip of a switch or push of a button...like the Moomba or similar. I'm exhausted from manually filling/draining bags, playing tetris with steel shot bags around the boat, manually switching the wedge from side to side, stiff hard to turn steering cause I need a million add ons to get a somewhat rideable/ropeless wave...yup I knew when I bought it that it was going to be a pretend surf boat for 50K.
I'm researching and considering a real surf boat for 100k...hello to a real engine, real ballast, real tower and quiet boating.

Lets see what the 12th reveals..

Thanks @Julian for the early sneak pics as always..

Hey - never said it couldn't be done. I surf mine too.

But I also read through the 30 page thread of everyone adjusting and trialing for months to get it dialed in. You too, thanks for the tips you've posed  Would you honestly recommend a jet if surfing was someone's primary objective?

Honestly it depends on where you boat at. Boating on rivers where debris is questionable.... yep.... If i lived on a lake where water depth wasn't an issue and i surfed 90% of the time, you better believe I would have a Wake boat. Setting up hundreds of Yamaha boats to surf I have about every model figured out for the hull and what they need for minimum ballast.

Anyways back to the topic....... very anxious to see the 25' ......????

Can't wait to see if there's a 25' FSH and how upset I'm going to be that I have a 21' sitting in my driveway I just bought :D

Was trying to think about where the extra space would be on the FSH. Space to walk behind the helm seat with storage under it and a beam to beam bench seat in the back?

At the end of the day a majority of our boating is on the River and the kids love going to the sandbar. With this in mind a dedicated surf boat is out of the question, however any opportunity I get to surf I’m in so this is why I stick with Yamaha.

Where is the best place to get an estimate or approx. value on my 2019 212 Limited S (Grey/white), perfect condition with 55 hours. (based in Panhandle, FL)
I am already in line and going to move up to a 2021 24'/25' when available and wondered what the expected trade in or sell price would look like.

I imagine that's a quickly moving target now that the 2021 21' boats are shipping and the seasons are moving towards fall and winter. When I was looking for a used boat a few months ago, I used NADA Guides, but the market seemed to be 25% overpriced for the little inventory that was out there. I'd wager your private resell value will go lower between now and whenever your new boat is ready. If I were in your position and wanted to maximize my profit, I'd find an eager buyer with cash and an itch to buy a COVID boat and sell it now.

I would love to, but my wife would add a new hole to my body if I got rid of the boat without an immediate replacement. She loves her time on the water.....
