2022 Yamaha Boat Updates

Looks like they removed the stripe on the 252SD models, which I really like on my 2021 model. Hoping my boat is finally fixed because I prefer the black over cherry red (if I had to ask for a replacement).

Ordered the 2022 195s in Yacht Blue yesterday.
I do like the white wake tower with the blue and the warm interior.
The color combinations and features sold me.

I got a quote yesterday on a 252SE For 96,355 OTD.
got my sales sheet yesterday for 255XD

MSRP is $101,499
Delivery fee is $4,100
“Make ready” is $2,900
Final dealer prep is $995
Sales Tax is $7138

sheesh….

117k for a surf boat from Yamaha is mind blowing to me considering the 242X was mid 70’s just a few years ago new. And wave hasn’t gotten much better for surfing. If they can create a huge surf wave for 100-120k I would consider it in the future but I may be looking at a dedicated surf boat like Super Air Nautique very lightly used after years of using our 242X. For now we are still loving our Yamaha. Can’t imagine spending 117k and having the same wave I have and having to buy premium fuel instead of regular at every fill up to gain only a few MPH on top end.

I agree on the price but that isn't even a fair comparison. You need to compare to a 252X, which is 86k.

Agree I forgot about that model. Still though 86k for that model after all the fees he just mentioned and a cover and your close to 100k I would think. That’s a massive jump over a few short years.

Prices across the board are so high, but we don’t have many options. Used boats are selling just below these prices lately.

Make ready?! Total delivery and prep of $8k?! Damn! What dealer is throwing those numbers?!

those numbers are bullshit. These dealers should be ashamed. My 21 255xd came out to 97k out the door, including installed snap cover, and the galvinized trailer, and "coast guard kit"

My dealer prep/delivery was 2450. 1250 snap cover/install, 399 coast guard kit, 249 doc 174 reg/title. Tax in nj is 3.5 on boats.

I don't think many people realize they have the 252XE still lol. No idea what was out the door a few years ago. I'd expect 95ish OTD with my local tax rate for a 2022. The 2019 version was 77k compared to 86k. The '21 was 80k for a redesign. Was fine until this years huge increases.

Supply and demand in action....those dealer fees are crazy. But with many dealers getting fewer boats, I SUSPECT they are struggling keeping and paying staff with fewer boats to sell. Fewer boats means less commission - and harder to keep sales people. Just my simple theory. But....I'm sure when you have people lining up to buy, increasing the price til people balk is one way to whittle down the queue!

Which is strange as some dealers already have 2022 on hand.

Technically the increase is only $7600.
It is weird but I don't think that they where ordered. Just randomly sent? I do know that a lot of pics out before august 17 mamayamaha will find the dealer and will never send any more boats to them.

That's exactly what I was told by my dealer. He said that the pre-release boats that showed up were basically a mystery to them and that Yamaha just sent them some stuff to appease people that got cut from the 2021 list. He said there really was no rhyme or reason.

Talked my Dealer today. We are 3rd on the list out of 60 plus. Just placed the order for a 252SD in Black Cherry! Here's to hoping we get it in time to take it out before the season ends! I'll try to post more details as we get them.
where you at?

This makes a lot of sense. My local dealer has started closing more days. They have nothing to sell. If they get something, they have a list of people waiting.

My dealer also claimed random boats showed up. I wondered if boats in the yamaha promo videos might be the ones showing up.
Here is an interesting tidbit. The cushions in my 2022 195s show a manufacture date of 23-Jun-2021, and I know there is a 2021 195s with cushion date of 17-Jun-2021.37E1EFD2-D0D8-447F-A21C-DB96930EEB47_1_105_c.jpeg

Last year there were 2021 boats being shipped before the big reveal date on August 12th. None of them were of the new 25 foot model, but there were some 19 and 21 foot boats out there starting in late July.

My guess on the "random delivery" of boats is that Yamaha is delivering boats to dealers as they are able to finish them, and are delivering off the "original" 2021 order list - EVERY dealer had their original order list cut in HALF. So they look at the original lists and see - we cut an AR190 from this dealer....send them this one. I'll bet they have a number of partial 2021 boats that they are only a few parts from finishing-and are just waiting for those last parts. We'll probably see a few more random 2021s arriving.

Just my pure speculation - as that is what I'd do. None of these dealers are ever going to call Yamaha and say "take this boat back-I can't sell it".
