For the Weber Q, I've cooked all sorts of steaks, burgers, etc and never had any issues with the heat under the grill. The legs are even plastic so I can't see the table being an issue.

As for the connection between the RV and the grill,

Basically you remove the existing weber regulator, install a quick disconnect fitting in its place.

Get a hose that goes from RV port to new quick disconnect on the grill. RV Done

Get a quick disconnect for the removed regulator and install it on the regulator. Now when you want to use a 1lb bottle, you just attach that regulator to the quick disconnect. Portable/Boat Done.

My father in law was asking me about this the other day actually for his RV.

I have the Weber Q 2200 grill. Kids got it for me for Father's Day.....I just love it. Something about that grill, there is nothing that doesn't grill up perfectly on it. Where do you stow it on the boat?
They make a smaller one, but I don't know/think it will cook as good. I also have a hook-up for my bulk tank on the RV, but I don't have the quick connects - Thanks for the link!.

I always put an old towel down under mine. If that doesn't burn or smoke I don't think it could hurt the table. Imo

I don't know what the table top is made of but again, the Weber gal that I spoke to cautioned me. I can see in your pics that you set it on it @steined and that speaks volumes, I just want to know what my limitations are before making the jump, and that may not be one of them. Again, I am just repeating what she said.

Yeah, I understand their policy and stance on modifications and heat/temp. As an example though, they also say you can't convert to NG on their grills from LP, but there are kits and instructions everywhere on how to do it for various models. From a product liability standpoint, I'd stay as far away from any modifications as well.

I don't have firsthand knowledge on the mods, but when I return next week I'll look at the Q regulator and see if it is possible to thread something in there.

@steined , I want to thank you for posting the adaptor parts. I got to thinking that certainly someone else asked this question before. So off to Google and YouTube I went. The video that you posted spells out the conversion so you can still use the high pressure bottles after converting it so you can indeed use the low pressure hose on an RV system. I did see another couple of mods to do this on YouTube where the end result was too much of an orange flame instead of the blue flame. I don't know if there is enough pressure from a low pressure system but it is doable as far as connecting. Now he used the regulator just adding a quick connect between the bottle connector and the regulator, so he could use the bottle or the hose, depending on which he hooked into it with the adaptor. Thanks again for helping with this! It may bring back into play this grill.

If it helps at all, I even use bungee cords on the grill in wake prone water and the bungees have never melted either. Not saying it couldn't happen, but it hasn't yet.

Making a table for it is easy anyway using the table leg, but on the boat, I might use it on shore more often. This is more for the RV anyway, hence the need for an adaptor. Thanks for all your help!

I also have the Weber Q. I have had the rod holder type grills on the boat as well but really like the Weber. When we go to the islands I take it off the boat and use it as the primary grill. I have cooked for 11 people with that grill without an issue. It has even seen the bottom of the ocean (Don't Ask), brought it back up and fixed lunch..... They even have most parts and pieces at Home Depot if needed.

@internationalmarinemike , I love the review of the weber and that parts are stocked at Home Depot but the 1200 looks huge. Is that the model you have? If so does it for under the bow seats in your boat? Im not in the market right now, just thinking about what's next.

I have the Q1200. I put it on the boat when we are doing the lunch thing or heading to the islands. I put it inside the console. I have a cover and some small Weber utensils. I also ways carry a BBQ lighter, and a spare small propane. The propane lasts forever but I don't like to be in the middle of cooking and run out. It is easy to keep and cooks for a lot of people. In fact we are planning something for Memorial day so it will be used then. I will post some pictures. It was also a Fathers day gift and I love it.

I'm a newbie, so bare with me....
Do you worry about radiant heat damaging the cushions at all?
How about "drippings" etc?

RE: Conversation from Propane to Natural Gas

First a little lesson: What's the difference in fuels ? Make a GREAT bar beer bet ...........
Natural Gas is an elementary product that comes from the ground.

Propane: is produced as a by-product of two other processes, natural gas processing and petroleum refining. The processing of natural gas involves removal of butane, propane, and large amounts of ethane from the raw gas, in order to prevent condensation of these volatiles in natural gas pipelines.

Problems in going from Natural Gas to Propane: You must first KNOW that the 2 fuels types do NOT burn at the same rate. Propane burns FAR HOTTER than Natural Gas. Conversions DO work, but it's more than just a regulator. You must replace the gas jets as well.

The last point to is to be extremely careful in this conversion.

all this Weber Q 1200 talk has got me considering switching - i really like the Weber's burner layout as opposed to my Coleman's down-the-middle design. though i'm not sure i want to give up the compactness, side burner, and wind deflectors of my PerfectFlow.



i did the "standard" Coleman mod with a mount screwed-in underneath and added a 36" post to my collection. had to modify the saucepan to actually use the side burner on the water: https://jetboaters.net/threads/how-to-make-the-useless-stove-burner-of-the-coleman-grill-useful.3944/

i plan to add an additional mount in the floor of the bow this season because when the boat has the table in place and a few people in it, the swim deck can be a real hassle to get to and from.

@CrankyGypsy - My biggest gripe with the weber is that there is no easy way to do a direct mount for a table mount like you did on the Coleman. I cook with the lid closed (just like the big grills) so wind deflection is a non issue. I'm sure I'll eventually come up with a mount for the weber, but in the meantime it is either sitting on or lashed to the table. It fits fine in the cooler location on my 13' 242 LS

The table mount in the front bow step works great. Using the short leg, I'm able to mount my grill kit in the front of boat with zero problems. See items #2 and #3 in this list. I've included part numbers for the additional table mount, and it's an easy hole to drill.

Here is what I did on my old boat (that is still strange to type)...I reused the flag pole mount to put the grill into. I'm hoping I can reuse this on the new boat and perhaps just stick the post down inside the table leg???
