Bimini 2014-June 22

I saw online that everyone on board needs to fill out a form. Is it this Entire form for everyone or just 1 page? This whole form appears as though it is for the Captain, and crew names get documented on here.

Good call on the reminder as I would like to get done in advance too.

I was talking to my crew about fresh water over there. Do we have to bring a weeks worth of bottled water for drinking? I guess an alternative is to boil and Brita it....

Wanted to get everyones take on it.

First off, the whole complex is supplied by RO water. There should not be any issues with water quality. In town, who knows... I looked at the VRBO site for my condo. It has another filter unit in it so I am good to go.

That being said, we are bringing a couple cases of water more for convenience of water when out on the boat.

Funny thing is my company used to supply treatment chemicals for the RO onsite. I am going to try to make "sales call" while there and write off the trip. :winkingthumbsup"

the form above is the customs clearance form. 1 per boat. the per person form to be filled out is the immigration form. I have these in hand and will distribute them at captains meeting.

the water is "ok" we brought/bringing our drinking water. we brought a few plastic containers last year to make ice overnight for the next days boating, this was helpful. Ice there I believe was fairly expensive

new item: When returning to US and Customs, they had us dial into a phone system and enter all our own information, then the agent pulled up the info and we were out of there..I'm not sure what number or avenue that was we called into. Anyone? The SVRS system https://svrs.cbp.dhs.gov/ appears to be based on making an appointment for an interview. we don't have that option here

@andy07sx230ho posted a document a few pages that had this in it. I had not seen the phone number before. Is this what you are referring to?

Exiting Policies/Return to US

When a private vessel arrives at a port of call in the United States, the Master or Captain of the vessel must report their arrival immediately upon first landfall to US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) by calling the following toll free number or visiting the following website:

1.800.432.1216 www.cbp.gov (MAKE SURE YOU CALL BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE MARINA)

The Captain will be directed to the nearest Port of Entry and must physically present him/herself and their passengers for admission to the US. In the past the location we had to go is the Port Everglades Customs office 1800 Eller Drive Suite 104, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316

DAMN. I thought about that document right after I posted in my haste......thank you

Yes that is the number to call and the address of the US Customs Office.

Thus the advantage of the SVRS program. But, everyone on your boat must be an SVRS member or you will be making the trip to customs for anyone that is not. Our whole boat is set to go with SVRS. Worth it in my opinion!

x2, Cindy and I did ours in 2011 and our friends from Iowa are arriving early enough in FTL to do there interview, then my crew will all be SVRS members.

You have to add them to your float plan before you activate it. Also you have to activate the float plan 24 hours before your departure....

When are they arriving?

They are arriving on Saturday.

Don't forget about the guy falling asleep at the wheel just north of the Florida turnpike. Gotta go swap out F250s.

So a young kid fell asleep at the wheel and hit my drivers door. This pushed me into the guy in the right lane who I pushed in the ditch. This put me past the emergency lane and into the grass going toward the ditch. Luckily I pulled the truck and the boat back to the shoulder. Driver side door and back passenger door have about a 2 inch gap in them so no way that is sitting in south Florida for two weeks. Back north to South Georgia and swapped out my now busted F250 for my dads and we now sit in the hotel at dania beach. And I lost the key to the trailer lock so had to cut that off. Other than that, great start to the vacation on Friday the 13th.

Glad to hear you are okay and the accident didn't deter your trip. Looking forward to meeting up with you in Bimini.

At least they didn't hit the boat! That sucks though. Man I hope it gets better for you!

holy crap. Man I hate driving I-95. I have seen too many things happen on that highway...

Glad you are OK and the boat is OK to continue your journey. Look forward to seeing you there. Safe travels the rest of the way now that Friday the 13th is behind you...
