Bimini 2014-June 22

In preparation for Bimini, and in anticipation of catching some whoppers, I present to you my latest boat mod...

how/where will that mount?. replacement for where the table typically goes with a larger pipe ??

that will be awesome !!

Cockpit table location, and actually, the ideal height is somewhere between our shorter and longer table legs. I have to figure that out yet, since I've found no adequate solutions for a mid sized leg.

I'm surprised it used the same diameter tube (strength). I've seen these table legs all over EBAY and amazon at different lengths......2 1/4 tapered end , If my memory serves..

Our tube is extremely strong. The ones on eBay and RV stores have crimped ends and are not the same taper as out leg. They are quite thin and weaker too. I'm considering buying a duplicate full length OEM leg and cutting out the middle and rewelding. We'll see...

That should help save the family jewels should you hook into a big fish...
=)

IT'S GETTING CLOSER !!!
Pretty soon I may need to change my status of "Boatless".....
The suspense is KILLING ME !
Ready to put down all my deposits for BIMINI as soon as the deal closes.
Mechanic and Boat Surveyor doing inspections now....

AWESOME !! How's it going Tim !?!?! ..This is Tim from the crew of the @upperdeck last year right?
What's the details on the boat. ? 24 feet? twin 200? 250? 300?!?!?!?!?!?? Looks like you only need a dock, the heck with the condo !!
What does it weigh in at on a trailer?

Yes it's me ! ;)
It's going great ! I've been lurking for a while, trying to get this purchase done so I can bring a crew of my own...
And do some fishing on Lake Michigan as well.
Its a Trophy 28' with twin Mercury 225's.(very low hours) and room to sleep 4 if needed.
It's 31' OAL and 9'9 Beam weighing in at 7400 lbs. 240 gallon fuel tank.(which will NEVER be completely full)
Top speed is 48 and cruise is 32.
It doesn't have AC otherwise I would consider foregoing the condo.

Just a heads up... I plan on bringing the equipment to read engine hours over to Bimini. If anyone is interested, maybe we can take care of some boats at the pig roast!

@tim h, do you have to get wide load permits to trailer it?

Yes, which he is aware of... This is one very big boat. Triple axle big!

And oh so cool! I'm drooling over the pictures this very moment!

For anyone who was curious about bringing firearms, I called 10 different phone numbers to various Bahamian goverment offices and I kept getting round robin'd. So I gave up and tried to call the Royal Bahamas Police.... no answer.

After I search I found some info on the nassau embassy site that seems pretty credible and sounds consistent with the information I've read else where:
http://nassau.usembassy.gov/entry_exit_bahamas.html

Vessels with Weapons, Firearms or Ammunition Aboard:

If you have a firearm on board (shotguns and handguns only) you must declare it with Bahamian Customs. You must provide the serial number, name of the manufacturer, plus an exact count of ammunition. While you are allowed to have a firearm on your boat, you cannot remove it. Weapons must be under lock and key at all times. In cases of emergencies, which require your departure by air, you must notify Bahamian Police or Customs. They will accompany you to retrieve the firearm and present you with a receipt. Upon your return to the island, Bahamian Police or Customs will escort you to your vessel and return your firearm. Any infraction of this law will be dealt with severely and The Bahamas has recently increased both the penalties and sentencing for violators of local firearm laws.

I also found this in this Firearms act:

http://laws.bahamas.gov.bs/cms/images/LEGISLATION/PRINCIPAL/1969/1969-0012/FirearmsAct_1.pdf

Nothing in this Part of this Act shall be deemed
to relate to the
possession of a revolver by a person, other
than a resident of The Baha
mas, belonging to or on board
of any foreign vessel arriving
at any port therein, during
the period of three months following the arrival of such
vessel at her first port of call on any visit to The Bahamas,
provided that —
(a) no such person brings the revolver on shore;
(b) no such person uses the revolver while in the
territorial waters of The Bahamas; and
(c) such person makes, in the prescribed form, a
declaration of his possession of any such revolver
to a proper officer of customs or an Out Island
Commissioner at the first port of call in The
Bahamas within forty-eight hours of the arrival of
the vessel.

YES ! Most states the permit will cost $20-$30. One is $60 Kentucky I think.

Do you know if any of them place restriction on times or highways you can travel?

I'm looking forward to our caravan from WI to FL!
