Bimini Trip June 27th - July 2nd 2021

Majority staying at Bimini Cove...some staying at Resorts World.

Majority targeting 6/27 crossing...some targeting 6/26 crossing.

Majority targeting 7/2 return...some targeting 7/4 return.
Thank you. I’m starting my research right away.

You won't get dock space at Bimini cove if you arrive on 6/26 (having to make special arrangements for those arriving early...and can't take any more)

Howdy from Texas! My wife and I would like to join the armada for the June 27th crossing. I have a 2019 Yamaha 210 FSH and fish off shore in the Texas Gulf. This would be our first trip to Florida and our first crossing to Bimini. Is there an itinerary, list of participants, private group... that has details on where to stay before the crossing? rally points, etc... Looking at Bimini Cove so count us in. Any details would be awesome, we’re excited about this!

I guess that makes my decision where to stay easier :) I’ll be at RW then and docking at Bimini Bay or in that area.

If you arrive 6/27....no docking issues at all. Paddle for a cure has the cove filled until midnight 6/26. They will start SUP paddling 80 miles back to the US at midnight.

Ohhhh I see. Thanks

So I'm getting a head start this year and we have already booked our trip for Bimini in 2021. We will be departing Bahia Mar Sunday June 27 to cross to Bimini and will be returning on Friday July 2nd. We are staying at Resort World this year as I have a bunch of family joining me who are not very keen on being on the boat all day so at least over there they will have other things to do while I out on the boat. All are welcome to join us but this will be a loosely organized trip more of a group crossing. I will tag a few who maybe interested in joining and if you are interested let me know in this thread and I will try to keep track of who is going. If you do book lodging make sure they have a good cancellation policy as we never know right now with all the things going on if the trip will be allowed.

Here are a few key points to think about.
  • As the Captain you are responsible for your boat and crew to safely make it to Bimini and back to Ft Lauderdale, this is your priority #1 assisting other boaters comes second.
  • All on board your boat must be able to sit comfortably behind the windshield. Do not plan on having anyone sit in the bow area, in my 12 legs to and from the Bahamas (6 trips), only once has the conditions been nice enough to sit in the bow.
  • All heavy cargo should be secured behind the windshield, either secured on the deck or in under seat storage areas.
  • Unless your anchor locker is heavily padded or you are extremely confident your anchor is secured in the anchor locker, for the crossings pull the anchor from anchor locker and secure in an under seat storage area, it will not be needed on the crossing. Anchors in the anchor locker have punctured through hulls during past trips.
Once you and your crew have decided you want to join our June trip, here is a list of things you need to get done.

Outline of key items for the trip that you need to do.
  1. Each person will need a passport
  2. Room reservation at the Bahia Mar Hotel,
  3. Slip reservation at the Bahia Mar Marina with launch location
  4. Condo reservation at Bimini Sands, Resort World or somewhere else of your choosing
  5. Filling out the Bahamas customs form
  6. Filling out a Bahamas Immigration form
  7. Clearing US Customs and Border Protection

Can't Make it now:
My wife and I would like to join in the fun for this crossing.I have a 2019 Yamaha FSH 210 and this would be our first trip to Florida (with a boat in tow). Any event/itinerary details would be great! We are looking at Bimini Cove, but if there’s better options I’m all ears. Count us in!

Wha.....?? They're going to paddle back in the complete darkness of night? I get that they going to need a lot of extra time paddling and really need to hit the early morning weather window, but that really sounds like a crazy plan. :wideyed:

I saw this today on Facebook and thought I would share ??

They've done this multiple years in a row....apparently leaving at midnight works for them.....

If you are in for sure I'll add you to the roster and private chat.

I’m about to rent a condo at the Bimini sands, the owner tells me that the dock space is separate from the condo rental, before I book the condo, does anyone know if theres still dock space available? I would hate to rent the condo only to find out there’s no dock space. is there a number or email I can use to contact them. Thank you.

Ok. I booked my rental. Please add me to the roster. All I have to do now is secure the slip. Thanks

Yes, please add us to the list & chat. Trying to get lodging figured out. Does Bahia Mar hotel/marina have trailer parking or just Harbor Towne?
