Question...if the drive is more than a day or two where do you check in for the night ? Just sleep in the truck on highway rest areas ?
We are going to leave Friday night after rush hour. Planning stay in the hotel in NC or SC. If we are not too tired we are planning stay in the 24 hours Walmart parking lot which we do that all the time in a RV.

@jayasaki138 I will mostly start a couple of days early (wednesday or thursday) and drive over to Ft Lauderdale leisurely.

I may leave NC on Friday after work and go as far as I can, then head to Tampa to pick up my brother and the event shirts on Sat, and head down to Ft. Lauderdale first thing Sunday morning.
Sounds like a convoy from Tampa Sunday

My brother is trying to talk his friend to come with his boat....a not yet delivered Benettau Gran Tourismo 46! Slightly different class.....but then we won't have to worry about needing a porta potti on my boat....or a grill, or a fridge, or....you get it....LOL. Question is will he want to sail it from Tampa across......he said he's interested.....time will tell!

I'll leave the 242 at home if I can get shotgun on that bad boy @Julian!

We will be leaving Tampa area either Friday or EARLY Saturday. Going to hit up a local "boat to" restaurant, and hopefully, if time allows, some fishing...

@Julian
Did I miss the shirt thread ?

He's holding out on us @tim h. ;)

No you haven't missed the shirt thread....once we have the artwork and shirt choices determined we will arrange a group order that I'll pick up and we'll hand out the shirts at the captain's meeting.

@Julian
I work 3 miles from the Oldsmar store, I could pick up the shirts if it would be easier for you...

I can buy a Jetboater's shirt? Where do I sign up?

Yes, we will have Bimini 2017 shirts. @Julian will be handling the order this year. His Brother's company has printed our Bimini Fling shirts since 2014. They will be available long and short sleeve versions in quick drying and UV protecting material in a variety of colors.

The artwork is in progress and ordering will open once it is complete. The shirts will be delivered at the Captains Meeting at Bahia Mar.

The long sleeve shirts are very comfortable once you get a little sun burn.

As an example this was the 2016 Shirt Order thread https://jetboaters.net/threads/2016-bimini-fling-shirts.8328/

Julian, would you prefer to organize the shirt order through posts in a thread or would you like me to create an order form?

Can it hide my beer belly and make it look like a 6 pack ;) ?

@Julian, this is a 430 mile route from Tampa to Bimini Sands with fuel stops in Naples, Marathon Key and Miami. The time and fuel consumption are based on BoatTest's 20.1 MPH cruising speed at 1 MPG test results. If the water was anything but smooth I would guess that the consumption would double. Seems like a fun trip with likely $5K in fuel burn.

It might actually be faster to cut across from Ft. Myers.
