Lake lanier gathering june 29th 2019

Just found this thread and looked at the calendar and I am free that weekend. May bring the camper and boat down and finally meet some of y'all! I have been on this forum since I bought my 212x last year and have yet to meet anyone from here, even the guys local to me.

Anyway, I used to go out on Lanier a good bit before my dad passed away. He had a house boat on Lanier so we used to come down for a weekend and stay on the houseboat. Been about 6 years since I have been on the lake though and I don't remember too much about it. He kept his houseboat at Port Royale so that is about the only area of the lake I was familiar with. Can someone tell me about what area of the lake the raft up will be? Good campgrounds close by?

@Jameson Clark it's considered "south end" at cruising speed its prob 10min south of port royal max. Shoal creek, van Pugh are 2 pretty close and both very nice camp grounds.

If you Google lake Lanier 3 sisters island will pop up on the map as well.. the picture I posted is zoomed in a little closer is why I labeled it.

Shady Grove is close to where we plan to be. I have not been there before.

I think Margaritaville/Lanier Island is building something for RVs and that could be fun. Not sure if they finished yet it not.

Looks like they open late this month so that is an option. I've been there by boat a couple times, looks like a fun spot to camp!

You guys need to get a list going in the first post of who is attending, and location details. Get enough people going and the Atlanta Yamaha folks might show up? I keep telling them that these gatherings are the perfect place to get some great Yamaha marketing shots in! Yamaha boats over the years...

@AlphaKap said the local yamaha dealership was instructed and going to email info to the new boat owners that have purchased recently.

Do I have ability to edit first post? I know one of the bimini trips the thread was to old

The local dealer is up to sponsor us but would be interesting if the corp people want to come visit and take some pics. I'll mention it.

I'm in. I am not on the forums that much so keep this going on the Facebook page if you can.
If any are looking to camp, my mother is a volunteer host at the shady Grove campsite. It's a very nice camp and located on a good spot on Lanier. The group sites there are very big and very nice you can accommodate a lot of space. if y'all need any help or interested in that let me know and I might can run some interference on that. That is also where I keep my boat, it is at one of the sites that is not used..... So typically I launch out of there anyway.

I also have a pretty decent relationship with some of the local dealers so I might be able to help get them involved as well, just let me know what you would expect out of them or what you might be looking for and I will hit them up.

Gathering is set for june 29th. Below are people committed and people who have shown interest.

We will be gathering in a cove located behind 3 sisters island that should allow us to tie up, float, maybe tube paddle races?

If people are traveling in you can look into staying at the hotel/cabins at margaritaville or their rv campground they are almost finished with.

Other camp grounds pretty close on lake are van Pugh, shady grove, and shoal creek.

There are also some vrbos available. In the listi g it should say "south end" flowery branch and Buford would be close as well as some areas of cumming and gainesville.

We have interest from local yamaha dealer Park Marine to potentially be a sponsor for event. They are going to email new boat owners about it.

We keep our Yamaha at Port Royale on the lake. Who’d you speak with at Park Marina about the sponsorship? My family will be out.

Alright, who here owns the two Yammies docked in the slips next to pelican Pete's? Had my maiden voyage and know the wall back noticed two of them.
Those are usually the demo boats they are trying to sell.

Anyone hang out at the "sand bar" right near van Pugh? It's got a nice shallow area you can walk around.

The other place we hang out a lot is straight across from port royal on backside of island is big cove with shallow area and small beach depending on water levels.

Any input on either location?
Van Pugh for us even with the water high. It was our family’s favorite place when the water was 5’ below full pool.

@frank busse I didnt speak to anyone at Park marine. @AlphaKap did sonue can chime in there.

I'm going to stop into Port next week and speak to some people I know pretty well to see what we can arrange.

I will say its weekend leading up to 4th of July so they will be packed and most likely not interested in having a large group since the wait on nor al weekends is upward of 2hr often.

@frank busse can I add you to the attending list?

Yes, the family and I will be there.

Rick Albrecht. He is their main sales guy...office is in the light house.

We didn't get into details as I was not really sure what we would want from them.

I'm a definite maybe. Baby girl #3 to be born next month so not sure what our situation will be!

@tabbibus congrats on the baby coming. Might be good daddy daughter day with older ones for a few hours if little one isnt ready for full day put.

@jason08603 is headed to lake... saw his red sided Yamaha south on hwy 124 2min ago... enjoy your day fine sir.
