Not worthy of the on-water help thread because I made it back to lift safely but something weird happened on my 2013 242 Limited S today.

Put the boat in today after sitting over the winter. Launched it at the public ramp and noticed about a mile from my house that cold sea water is flowing out of the flush port. Some more info:

-good pee/telltale flow out of both engines

-no spit hoses observable while underway (ran the boat with the engine hatch open), engine area is as dry)

-engine was running fine at idle and at higher RPMs

-removed the cleanout hatch and do not see signs of excess water from that area. All clamps are tight.

-read some posts regarding cooling water and the various valves that open and shut and tried to clear the lines with compressed air (did not go crazy so this might have done nothing).

-ran the starboard engine on the lift with saltway and see water exiting from the impeller/intake area as usual.

-took the boat back out same issue ... see the attached picture ... bubbles from the saltaway came out the flush port when I first started
it’s a steady stream that increases with RPM.

-checked oil as a precaution its clean.

-ran a SaltAway flush again just in hopes this might remove some type of corrosion build up that formed over the winter.

I have never screwed the cover on these flush ports shut ... so I am certain this is the first sign of this “back / sea water” pressure making it up the line.

Boat is resting fine on the lift. Would welcome some suggestions for me to try tomorrow.

I typically keep the covers on my flush attachment ports. Even then it's not uncommon to have some water dripping out of them. I've always attributed it to back-pressure from the overall system.

My recommendation would be to put the covers on them when running it and enjoy!

Sorry as I don't have an answer for you as I never run the boat without the covers screwed shut. I would have to think that it would be normal as there should be some back pressure. Yamaha probably put the cover on there for a reason.

I think there is a check valve on there that weakens with time. Screw the cap back on and call it good!

I normally get a small dribble from mine but I keep my caps on and it's usually if I don't have them screwed tight,
you've got a pretty good flow but I've never ran my boat with those caps off,

I'd also chalk it up to cooling water back pressure and probably not worry about it as long as I didn't have any alarms,
