I wonder what float mode is? I can guess, but how many other modes are there. It's on the touchscreen in the 240 video. There are more features not mentioned.

Float mode is right in the middle, between sub mode and flight mode...

I assume this is a typo? - "Ramping the engines up to 5500 rpm (31 mph) produced 92 dBA and 88 dBA for the old and new models, respectively."

I know it's rarely talked about but you'd think they'd up the HP in the 210 line. 220 hp keeps me from even considering it. Why not go to the 230 or 230HO motor setup in these. 280 horsepower would be huge

I like the bow line better now. Less "nose droop."

I always thought that the droopy nose on the 2010-2014 240 series boats was styling getting in the way of function.
With the jet drive, bowrise on these boats has always been minimal, so there was no practical need for nose droop.
The nose droop reduced ability to handle bigger chop and increased chances of taking waves into the cockpit.

Also, the telephone booth door looks much better and the swing-out rear seat backs make use of previously wasted space. Others have stated they feel otherwise, but I wish I had hinged seats, nice add.
The dash refresh is overdue, but it strikes me as gimmicky. Time will tell, I guess.

Worth noting: the MSRP on these boats continues to skyrocket. The MSRP for the flagship is now more than twice what I paid for mine new. I would not/will not buy a new Yamaha at these prices.

It is good to see Yamaha taking some risk on the innovation side. The competition from Glastron, Scarab, etc. is pushing Yamaha to do more. At this price range, look for another company to start undercutting Yamaha with a solid alternative. The cycle begins anew, I suppose.

You're right. It didn't read smoothly through the whole paragraph reversing the numbers and throwing in a "respectively".

Right but the 210s have 220. Upping the ante on the base models could be good but would probably drive price inflation. I paid 28.5k for a brand new sx210 two years ago. They are already up 10k now. Boat prices do seem to keep climbing.

Of course, the price of new ones increasing probably helps to slow the depreciation on older ones.

He's referring to the 210s, not the 212s.
And the 210s have twin 110hp motors.

Man... The more I see about the 240s, the more I wish I had a way bigger garage! That 13 foot long tracking keel, articulating keel, noise reduction, hinged seats, and higher bow seem like just the ticket to address some of what is suboptimal on our 2011. I just wish all of this was on the 21 footers. I would likely buy one. Maybe next year! Only thing I am not keen on is the touch display. I just don't like those on boats. Prefer gauges and mechanical switches.

New tower, hinged seats, added steering control, seadek, Polk speakers, quieter cabin, extra storage on swim deck, extra length/hull design
Hate:
Touchscreen led panel with no GPS/chartplotter (?)
Higher freeboard, no integrated cooler like the older boats, not a fan of the "beverage station" it seems cheesy.

I'd love to know how they quieted down the engine noise and how they redesigned the anchor locker. I hate dealing with the ladder to get to the anchor.
