Well considering I hate cold weather and want to hibernate when it drops below 50, at the moment I'm not using the boat but I am still spending money on upgrades LOL.

I'll be posting pictures of the new Sea Dek installation soon.

What's the guy asking? 100k?

LOL, yeah boating is almost done up here.

Yes, roughly $100K. It's a pretty cool boat on paper (and on this forum), but I've never been on one. This forum and thread have been really helpful.

Yeah, but it looks like you've put some pretty sweet mods on yours! Only real upgrade is an OEM cover. No trolling motor or anything else really to speak of.

Thanks that's really good info tho.

The boat is turn key.
It's amazing.

You hop in, turn the key and drive.
There's no trim tabs, any other sort of adjustments you have to make.

It's just fun to drive and care free.
(After Thrust Vectors)

Friends and relatives who are all parked around me with their large center console boats always want to drive mine and are amazed at how easy and fun it is.

The rear swim deck, there is just no comparison with these outboard motor center consoles.
I can show you picture after picture of everyone coming and sitting behind my boat while we are at the sand bar, rather than any of these other boats.

I just cannot express to you how happy I am with this boat compared to everyone around me.

That's high praise, and really helpful. I'm glad you're having a blast with it. It would be interesting to see what the Grady and Whaler snobs near me (who are my neighbors and friends, actually :) ) had to say about it.

Alright, gotta make a decision this weekend if this is the right boat at the right time...

Trying to compare $100,000 boat and its amenities with a $300,000+ boat is not really fair. Those are gorgeous boats and I have nothing bad to say about them.

The comparison is the stern real estate and ease-of-use, plus the low relative cost.

@EastonRob

Something to consider, and welcome others chiming in. I recall when I purchased my Waverunner (non Yahama dealership) it had approx 16 hrs and was about 9 months old. I needed to take it to a Yahama dealership to transfer the YES warranty to my name.

The dealership mentioned that I should have them preform the “10hr service” as that’s a key service to have documented if any issues arise long term. Not sure how accurate that info was, but it put my mind at ease to have the shop go through the ski and look to identify if anything was out of spec.

Since I found JB.net, I have been doing my own service (boat and ski) as it’s rather straightforward.

Thanks, Zack! Whoa, $450 per engine? It sounds like it's mainly an oil change (unless there's something needin' fixin'). I have no data on whether anything on drivetrain or electronics need tweaking.

I'm hoping to decide whether or not to make an offer on this thing by the end of the weekend.

Hope you're still getting to boat down in your neck of the woods....

Buy an oil extractor and a couple of oil change kits for future services and save yourself about $700. Just save the receipts from your oil purchases and document the service work you did. Get yourself a service manual from Yamaha it is pretty darn handy.

if you are going to make an offer on this boat, have the servicing dealer run a code check on the engine ecu’s to check for any alarms that may have occurred.

You should also be able to get the dealer to do a pre purchase inspection. And, if anything was checked by a dealer that should be in the company data base.

I was concerned about having Yamaha do the 10 hour service but the closest dealer to me is 250 miles away. I called Yamaha corporate and asked and the CSR told me to keep the receipts, when I asked about documenting the work I did he told me that having the receipts would be sufficient.

The 10 hour service includes:

48DB34F4-4BF2-4636-863F-4679F835BC39.jpeg19CF0C10-E02F-4404-AC2C-A2AB6B261AB2.jpeg

I also checked my boat and for 2021 it appears the 10 hour intermediate bearing greasing has been moved to 100 hours as is the 252.

You will notice the 10 hour service only mentions an oil change without filters which imho is weird.

Im curious, why is this guy selling this boat with 19 hours on it?

That’s easy…. Over at The Hull truth there was a bunch ignoramous’s trashing the Yamaha FSH boats with both laughable inaccuracies along with comments based in 1970’s Berkeley jet technology. The exception there were the folks who had actually been on a FSH, they all spoke highly of them.

Im not saying your friends and neighbors will trash it, what will be fun is when you take them out on the water and their minds get blown.

@Zackdadams is right, it’s not fair to compare the $100K Yamaha to a $300 K GW, BW, Scout etc… as he said those are bitchen boats, I watch reviews and tests on them all the time.

But you know what ? As @Zackdadams mentioned, I keep coming back to my swim step which I really like. I land almost all of my fish on the swim deck. When I’m out with friends and we are hanging out we always hang out on the swim step area, I actually just bought a set of Jet Boat Pilots swim step cushions for my boat.

so even though I look at those high end boats I keep coming back to my boat….that being said, if it was in the budget I’d be upgrading to either the 252 or the 255… I prefer the 252 with its manual throttle and shift gates though.

Hi All, newb here. Been reading this thread and waiting on a 2022 252 FSH and it finally got it about 3 weeks ago. Awesome boat so far.

I'm down in the gulf side of FL and have to go out about 3 miles of shallow skinny mangrove canals to get to the gulf/intercoastal, a bit of a learning curve from my Stingray but totally doable. I added some AK-19 Basic Cobra Fins for some improved handling for high speed turns in the canals (after ending up in the mangroves a bit) and it made a huge difference in turning at speed and maintaining a turn when decelerating. Happy with them so far.

I had to fix the anchor locker drain, which wasn't connected, took about an hour.

I ordered a Motorguide Xi5 since it will hook up to the Simrad but haven't received it yet, supposedly today. Going to try the factory mount, I see 50/50 comments with the performance of the mount. I've already installed 3 50 ah Lithium batteries, amazing how lightweight they are. Looking forward to testing run time.

So, does anyone find the draft to be less than the 22" stated on the specs? I go over some shallow stuff at no wake speed and depth shows more than my Stingray 216CC used to. Stingray was set to 20" boat draft on the Garmin and it showed 15" under me at some shallow stuff, 252 I have my draft set at 26" on the Simrad, for a little extra cushion, and it shows 20" under me at the same spot where I use to be chewing up oyster beds with my prop. I'm going to try and measure it next time I'm out at the sand bar. Wondering if anyone has actually measured the draft?

I would believe that the keel is ~5'' below the factory transducer.

I've reached an agreement in principle with the owner of the boat. Gotta get the deposit wired, then the sea trial, bring it home...and then, in the water??? No, first winterize/service and store. Then new pier, new wiring, new boat lift, and THEN in the water :) Hopefully by end of April. Wow.

Sea trial should be "fun" in November or early December Chesapeake Bay wind and waves.

Sounds like a proper test!

So, figure it's time for an update. Finally have the boat down to our place in Baja. Punta Chivato for those who are curious, Sea of Cortez side.
Really have had no issues with the boat other than finding stripped screws into fiberglass. Worst case one is the front livewell lid. Quite frustrating.
Great boat so far.
Caught 8 of these bad boys yesterday. No gaff needed, landed them on the swim platform. I think my wife is happy! That is a Mexican Amigo behind her.

What kind of fish? Were you trolling or live bait fishing?
