Tired of the engine hatch falling on my head so I installed new engine hatch lift struts. While I was in the boat I also took care of the key switch spinning and installed the block and washers from @Bruce that solves that issue.

I did the same thing when my handle died. No name Amazon one is on third season and woks great! TBH, I gave no idea where my 2nd handle is today from the 2 pack kit, but it's in a safe place I tell you!

I’ve been buying the OEM one on Amazon under the Attwood brand. Is is ~$12 for one, so twice the price of these. They’ve only last 3-4 years each, so I’m going to try one of these “no names“ next time. I think I saw one with orange highlights too, which I thought was a good idea.

So was on the lake yesterday and decided to give the inside a hood wash down with scrubbing using my raw water wash down.

When I got home and pulled some clothes out of the port storage pod they were wet. Today I had a look at the cup holders on the storage pods and they were not sealed.





Then had a look at the ones on the helm as the last time I got rained on I found a bit of water in the head compartment. Not sealed either.


These four were not sealed, I missed them when I had sealed the other four, two in the bow and two on the transom.

I love this sealant. It’s also branded as yamabond. It stays flexible after it’s cured

Getting caught up on some recent mods:
While replacing the head unit I also removed the 12v plug and installed a dual USB charger. I bought this the year I bought the boat, so it has been superseding multiple times. I'd rather have one that is USB-C or both at this point.

I then added a 12v plus at the batteries using the following cable. I purchased the 3 ft and it is just long enough, so if anyone is looking to do this I would suggest buying at least the 6 ft version.

Made another thread about this yesterday, but more member may see it here. Not what I did to my jet boat, but what I did to my jet boat trailer.
Had to replace the factory trailer jack as the gears rusted and stripped out. Word to the wise, regularly oil and cycle your jack. This one isn’t even 2yrs old.

Do you just store it in the battery compartment, or how do you deal with it? Having the 12v at the helm is a PITA for blowing stuff up when we get to the sandbar. Everyone is jumping in or wandering all over the boat, and nobody can seem to manage to figure out how that the spendy inflator can be moved, saving me from feeling like they're going to break the plastic adapters because they think the thing is indestructible so they can just stretch the hose instead of the purposefully-long cord.

Yup, you described my experience. I do just store it in the compartment. I did buy a 12v-USB combo to mount and while figuring out where it would go I was thinking that I also only use the 12v for the inflator, so 10 minutes of use didn’t warrant a permanent install, so I switched to this. Right now I don’t have a fuse block or bus bar, so I just direct connected it to one battery (My setup is 1/2, not start/house).

Nothing fancy here but it’s helpful! Like a few of us, I am a few pounds overweight, not a flexible as I used to be and the knees or hips don’t like jumping around. So I built this little step stool. It’s heavy and just attached with a little looped cord so it’s very easy to remove. I had to make it this big so it wouldn’t be tippy if you stepped close to the edge. Now all steps in and out are just 8”-9”. A built is step like this would be a relatively easy mold modification for Yamaha, of course it couldn’t be as large but it would be effective

I made a replacement retaining ring for the ballast system elbows. My Buddy who has a 212x kept saying he had a leak that he couldn’t find up in his ski locker. Apparently the previous owner lost the ring and used electrical tape as a “suitable sub”. Now if I can only find Nylon in blue I can replace all of mine with ones that match my boat!

For those that don't have a 3d printer the fittings from wakemakers are pretty cheap. I needed some o-rings for some of the bags and they were like .20 each. They weren't listed on their site, but had them in stock. I'm sure those retaining clips would be something you could call up and order. The o-rings they even just sent me free.

I did a thing. Captain wifey, who launches and loads the boat while I manage the trailer, wanted some guide posts to make her life a bit less stressful. Unfortunately guide posts make the trailer to wide to fit in the my garage and nobody makes a removable set. I rigged up a removable set with some Ve-Ve's and washer/spacers. Just shimmed it up so the posts "pressure fit" into the trailer, then it is secured by a screw that really snugs things down, along with a hinge pin for backup. Had to drill a couple of carefully planned holes. Honestly I'm surprised at how well it works. Two minutes for install or take-down and the captain is happy.

Nice! I just replaced my incandescent bulbs with LEDs and it was around the same price just for the bulbs. While they work well, I'm sure they're not as bright as those multi LED ones you have.
