I don't want to derail the thread but we're headed to Lake Shelbyville this weekend and was wondering if IL has any kind of lake permit I need to get before I head over?

Just your standard boat registration. Lithia Springs marina has a $5 launch fee. Just fill out the card and drop in the box.

Yep. That’s my understanding.

If anyone has any pics or video clips that they’d like to share for inclusion in a video of the gathering, let me know. I’ll go through this thread and pull down any pics, and if you’re my FB friend and you posted some pics… I probably saved those already too.

Send me a PM here and I’ll send you my gmail address to email them to, or maybe upload to Google or Dropbox and email me a link. Whatever is easiest.

I’m going to try to get the video knocked out soon before I forget what we did this summer.

We wanted to check this out last year, but to say that circumstances didn't allow it would be an understatement. This year, my family and I are looking to make some better memories, and we are making this a priority. I looked into the resort, but it appears everything is booked up there already, so we will be camping at the Lithia Springs Recreation Area, site 33. I hope to meet you all and hang out on the water.

Count me in as another eager participant. We're in the same situation as @oramac . Been wanting to make the trip for a few years and life keeps getting in the way. It's on our priority list this year!
