27' new Yamaha model 275 jet boat to be unveil Thursday at the Miami Boat Show

Ok, first vid uploaded. Took longer than i thought it would take. Live streaming never worked after a few tries so i gave up and just recorded video. Be gentle with my vlogging skills, first timer here.

Enjoy, more to come.

Footage of the Swim up Seats other function as a table.

Close up video of bracket and leg for Swim Up Seats.

Short Clip of front of Boat/Trailer for size reference.

Last Post, promise. This one had people on the boat as i was filming so it was difficult. While I was there, not one time did i notice the boat without someone on it. It was attracting lots of people at the yamaha booth. We were talking to an older couple who already have a boat and wanted the 27 for their family. They wanted it primarily for the grandkids and hanging out while anchored etc..

We got to demo the boat today. Noticeably loader than the 240. Typical fit and finish of a Yamaha boat. Nothing spectacular.

The low speed paddles were pretty awesome. One hand to steer and throttle backing into the dock. The new jet nozzles are much more responsive in reverse also. I believe the paddles are only available on the $130k model.

I did notice A LOT of water on the swim deck at just above idle. Much more than I've ever seen on a boat with no ballast.

Nice boat. IMG_5716.jpegIMG_0072.JPG

Top speed is still around 50-51. And with 8 on board the boat wouldn't plane off on 1 engine. We tried....

Also that tower had a ton of movement! Too much. Not a quality tower

Interesting bit on the tower. While i didn't get to demo the boat i pushed and pulled on it while it was docked and it seemed sturdier than the 240AR. Seemed real heavy also.
How would you compare this to a 240 for a typical Bimini run?

IMO the fiberglass top is too much for the tower. There's just not enough anchor points to the hull for the tower to not rattle/vibrate.

Sounds like they have some things to improve upon for the next 27’ series in a few years on the redesign. More robust tower design, and maybe not water on swim deck non stop? Can’t believe does not have full glue down seadek throughout also.

I took some shitty videos of the test drive, Julian linked em above/last page/somewhere.

I'll echo many of the sentiments already stated. It isn't really quiet. The tower does rattle. Lots of water washing up, lots of spray. And, it honestly didn't seem to ride any better than a 242 - I'm glad it was pretty choppy today to get a good feel for it. The head door/handle/hinges were really nice I thought. And it really was quite spacious in the cockpit, far more than the pics lead on. The aft grab handles were nice as well. Otherwise, nothing really stood out except drive. Once you engage drive via connext, the steering motion is mechanically limited to about 60 degrees or so either direction. Tap L/S paddle once for reverse, and up to 2 more times to up the RPM's like no wake mode. Vice versa for the R/S paddle. The trailer was really nice too, but it doesn't come with, heh.

We took quite a few boats out today, including a 100K 28' Dusky with twin 200's. That thing would not only plane, but hit 40mph on one engine and we were talking normally the whole time. I'd take the Dusky all day long over this, not to mention run circles around it and actually stay dry.

The Aquila 30 they debuted this week was just incredibly sexy. The new Cigarette was bonkers. Worldcat 400DC. So many cool boats. If you didn't go to the show to specifically see this yamaha, you didn't see it. It's a nice boat, but it's not 130K nice, and it certainly didn't stand out in the crowd here.

I test drove the boat and it handles like a dream, you can barely feel the chop at the stern and cockpit, you stay dry except at the bow area. The paddle shifters are an awesome addition. The hard top with the glass sun roofs are pretty cool as well. Plenty of space, its well designed and can pretty much be a day cruiser. Those loungers in the stern are pretty comfy.

Great, informative write-up!
Is it worth it to swap the pumps with the new parts (reverse nozzle)? In your opinion.

No. I'd say it's similar to the reverse handling that you have now with YOUR current set up. But if you have no fins or fangs, or multi mega monster fangs or whatever he's calling them now it would be worth looking into. But I bet for the price if you had to have these lateral thruster type jets then JBP would probably be the most economical.
Just my opinion...

My 07 has a step with traction, from factory, and we use it.

Yup our 2016 came stock with SeaDek pieces on the swim deck that went over to the little "step area" and we used that all the time. No way I would feel safe trying to step on a wet section of plastic or gel coat.

Ouch after watching your first video I would hate to change the oil on the starboard engine. The oil filter access looks real tight!
