Hi I’m curious and looking for opinions I live in Minnesota and most if not all states say that you have to have contrasting registration numbers in regards to the hull. I just purchased the suede gray AR 195 and clearly I don’t have the boat yet but I’m wondering if you think these letters from Yamaha are contrasting enough on that gray hull?26569121-F1D7-4A43-9BDF-946C4D6A803B.jpeg

I'm not sure where they're gonna be placed, but from my recollection of the color of your boat, IMO that'd be a no with the gradient. I think black or white, but again, I don't know where it's going.

I would not want to leave that “gray area” to the interpretation of law enforcement. When I switched to that style letter I moved it up above my rub rail where the hull changes to white. I suggest springing for custom letters where you can also name your boat at the same time. There are lots of online options. I like the design tool and options at: Vinyl Lettering Online Designer - DoItYourselfLettering.com

I had black letters on the blue and I got stopped and given a warning that they didn’t contrast enough. Really it gave him an excuse to see if anyone was drinking in the boat. So I had a local graphics shop overlay silver with a shadow. B1BD3A65-C23A-4CCB-AE5C-9A5B047A25E7.jpeg9EFF1CB7-5EDF-42D4-85CA-E580CA4C86B3.jpeg

We have only been out once during our lake delivery, but this is what we had made for our reg numbers.

The white outline makes the black on blue very noticeable. Otherwise I don’t believe there would have been enough contrast.

boatdecals.biz was good to me. this comes as one complete piece which was super easy to apply. lots of fonts and colors available.

Coast guard approved at lake pleasant Arizona. Fast signs in Gilbert made the font and sticker.

Just go by Kinkos with a Microsoft Word document with your numbers in the font you like and have them cut a decal on their plotter in whatever color vinyl you pick.

It’s like $20.00.

I was pulled over in WI for having registration numbers with a color fade. As others have said, just gave them an excuse for pulling us over and going through the boat.
Another +1 for TN. Lawbook says as long as its contrasting to the hull, its fine. Plus i got it in reflective so even more visible day or nite.
