I'm in Florida as my Dad had a stroke, and the hospital he's in doesn't even ask you ANY questions when you come to visit. No temp check, no "do you have covid" ... nothing.
His assisted living facility takes your temp and you have to sign off that you have no symptoms, haven't been recently exposed etc.

Hope he has a full recovery.

It is easy to understand why we are doing so poorly but hard to understand why many of us want to make this worse.

For those that still are curious.

Just came back to ICU service. In one month went from about 3 to 5 COVID patients and also having room in the ICU, to 22 covids (24 bed ICU) and only one open ICU bed. We call that the code bed. In case we get a cardiac arrest. So essentially no beds. We have opened up again our ancillary ICU unit.

Ask me anything. I'll answer as long as it's not patient identifiable.

@tabbibus, are you getting any vaccinated patients into the ICU? If so, are they boosted?

Jim

For those that wonder about the reactions of Vaxxed vs unvaxxed. In my house everyone has had their vax. At my main business, I am the only one. One of my employees got covid over new years, he still is not back at work. My son got it last Monday, my daughter got it Tuesday, and my ex wife got it tuesday, all vaxxed. My son is hoping to go back tomorrow, my daughter the next. My employee that is still out is getting the vax as soon as he can.

After rounds I've learned of two more. One JJ about a year ago. No boost. And another a partial vax with only one dose.

Triple jabbed here, just tested positive and am (mildly) symptomatic. To say I was annoyed would be an understatement.

@tabbibus Do you know which variant they are infected with?
No. We are unable to routinely test here. I believe the powers that be do spot tests. But I'm not aware.

You can order free tests from the USPS for late January delivery as well.

I would prefer they were on store shelves rather than being stockpiled and mailed.

I needed one for my Mother yesterday. Retailers did not have any. State and county locations were closed. This morning state listed locations did not have any.

Fortunately my Mother chose to be boosted, her fever has broken and she is on the mend. She did have more coughing than I would have expected with Omicron. Enough to make it hard for her to sleep but no SP02 issues.

State programs conduct surveillance testing then report to the CDC. Unfortunately the CDC reports regionally and some states do a terrible job of reporting. December 11th region 4 which Georgia is in was 88% Delta. By Christmas it was 81% Omicron. Now it is 99.7% Omicron. If contracted before December 18th it likely is Delta and afterward likely is Omicron.

We just ordered our test kits as well. Hope we don't need them, but it will be good to have them just in case!

However, for your info graphic we need to consider that we have a population of 330mil+
Spain: 47mil
France: 67mil
UK: 67mil
Italy: 60mil
Netherlands: 17.5mil
Germany: 83mil

Make sure you get 2 per person. My friend put tap water on a test and it tested positive and then put saline in another and it tested positive. Sooooo..... always double check.

Check again. It is the rate per million people. It is already adjusted for population. Unfortunately we are doing the worst and choosing to do so.

There is no need for rumors and disinformation.

My wife placed the order this afternoon, but I think, at least for now, you are limited to 4 per household (which is one set of kits.)
