Norris Lake- Tn

I will do my best to meet up. If I can get out of the house and on the water after unpacking Saturday, I really don't care how far I have to drive. Will have to keep everyone posted that day. We would have out kids with us so hope that doesn't change anything. Or maybe the girls can stay home with the kids and some of us guys can swing over. We will see how that works out.

@CarFanatic do you have a recommendation for a restaurant on the water that about 10 adults could go out to for an evening during the week?

Most of the marinas do food. They don't do fancy dinner stuff more like sandwiches and BBQ stuff. Friday nights sequoia does wings and coronas. Shanghis. Food is probably my favorite. Springs dock has a great club sandwich. They also do breakfast. Sugar hollow also does breakfast. If your at lake side estates I would hit up shanghi for dinner.

We will have our kids with us as well. 13, 7, and 2 years old. I will keep an eye on this thread while we are down there, hopefully we can make something work out.

Love Norris! My wife and I are probably heading down in September.

This will be our first trip, but I have heard nothing but positive things about Lake Norris. I am really looking forward to it.

@Impelled So where are the photos? Did I miss them?

norris is awesome you will love it.

Going to be renting @CAM212SS 's place the 11th - 14th September. Would love to meet up with some people. Should be 2 - 3 other couples on the boat with us. Just let me know.

Norris was a blast. It lived up to all expectations. I will say that if was not expecting the extreme slope of our ramp. That was the scariest thing I have ever done. Ended up pulling out at sugar hollow marina. image.jpgimage.jpg

@Helipilot11 @CAM212SS is this an available rental for future reference? Looking for ideas for next year.

@GiddYupJoe @Helipilot11 Yes it is . Naturally the summer months are the busiest, but we have the occasional before and after. Let me know if you have any questions. Toward the beginning of this thread you will see the link to our unit. Thanks much

We were there for memorial day weekend, water was still to cold for my taste but still a great time

We're staying here June 7~14, I rented this place and will be splitting the cost with 3 other couples. Been to this lake several times a year since getting the Yamaha in 2006. Done a houseboat, couple of condo's, floating houses several times. Last 4 years been renting these house. Google Escape Klaus, that's another house we had two yrs ago. One big, deep lake. The floating house trip is one of the most relaxing places to be....IMO. We should look at this place for a Jet boat get together....lots of different places to stay, just don't know how getting the group together on land? Hope the link works....

Thanks for posting the link to this place! My family has started doing family lake trips the past few years. At one point, I mentioned Norris Lake as a possibility after hearing my praise on this and the "other" site over the years. After a trip to Cumberland and Lake Erie, my FIL said Norris Lake was next. As he was looking for a place to stay, I recalled you posting this house and passed along the link. He searched countless places and came back to my original suggestion. After some review, he liked the amenities it had to offer over everything else he looked at and booked the place for this coming year. I have to say, I'm looking forward to checking at this place as well as a new lake!

We will be down there for a week in July, what time of the summer are you all going?

I'm sure something could found. When I was looking, there were countless places to stay throughout the various regions.

Are there any places on the lake with multiple cabins for rent.....looks like an awesome place for a Jetboaters gathering!
It would be a great place for a gathering. You would basically have to pick which part of the lake and the rest would be easy. Everything from condos to floating houses to 9 bedroom cabins.

What I've concluded is the best way to get a gathering to build year over year is to find a place where everyone can stay (multiple cabins etc) and just keep growing it (just like the Midwest gathering). We began that at Lithia Resort, docks were available at the marina and it grew from 4 boats the first year, to 6, 10, 15, 20 etc. I think it took off because:

1) We had good active planners---that are great folks
2) A great place to stay in the evenings and BBQ and get to know everyone
3) Slips-so reduced trailering
4) Did I mention the great planning and people? :-)

So I'm in the hunt for an East coast location. We tried Lake Gaston, but that lake is relatively small, and busy as heck on the weekends. We did have a great resort in Stone House Timber Lodge.....but I think a bigger lake would be better.
