Re-Route Flush Hoses?

Has anyone re-routed the engine flush hoses? I hate where they are in my boat 2016 242SE by the rear seats. I was thinking of re-routing to the stbd back wet storage area. Just a thought for a winter mod. Any comments would be appreciated.
 
It wouldn't be hard to do, just two small hole's a barbed coupling to add a new section of hose some hose clamps and you would be done. You could fill the holes by the seat with some cap I'm sure that would push in fill the hole.
 
Somebody has done that but I don't remember who and can't find the post. I the open factory flushing holes they usb charging ports. I personally like the idea of having the flushing ports somewhere in the swim deck area.
 
I discussed this with Yamaha and a few members at different times. The only time I use the flush ports is when I'm doing an oil change on land. But regardless of the scenario/need, one always needs to be in the boat to start the engine first, THEN turn on the hose (I use a control at the end of the hose), so having the ports on the swim platform just makes it further to go. Also, when I'm doing an oil change on land, I do one engine, then the next. While I'm pumping oil out of the first engine (engine hatch OPEN), I'm running engine #2 to warm it up. If the flush port were in the back somewhere, this would be a PITA to accomplish.

I'm curious what is wrong with the stock location @Coheeba ?
 
If you have a hose hooked up you cannot open the back hatches. It is also a tight fit to hook up the flush hose.
I am in salt water so I flush after every outing. I have rigged a "Y" with a valve and a hose to each flush port. I also use salt away so I have that in line. I hook the "flush Y" up and use the valve to direct the water to each engine. I agree putting them in the swim deck hatches would not be ideal. I have also thought about putting them in the engine compartment. You would have to raise the engine hatch to get to them.
This is why I wanted to start some conversation so I can get opinions and not have to do this twice or not at all if it is stupid. Thanks for your input.
 
I tend to agree with @Julian. I do the same thing and would find any other location worse.

Plus, putting them in the wet storage area would mean that the hatch would have to be open and you'd be unable to run the engines due to the cut-off switches (unless something has changed drastically on the new boats?).

Biggest issue I had with the location was the fact that the stock connections leak like a sieve and it ran all over the place. I upgraded my connectors and everything stays dry now.
 
The upgraded fittings are MUCH better.

I was thinking the stbd wet storage area not where the manholes are, but as @Julian said it would be a PITA.

Could you post a link to the upgraded connectors?
 
I agree having them on the swim platform seems counter-intuitive since that adds to the back and forth traversing once you start the engines then need to turn on the water and visa versa when its time to stop flushing. I don't really have an issue with the area on the boat they chose for the flush port as I like it close to the driver/key but what I don't like is how low it is. I have to remove my cushion if I want to use my Salt Away cup and dispenser. Problem is i can't raise the location because there's a grab handle above the flush port. It's a minor inconvenience for me since I only visit the gulf once, maybe twice a year, and rarely do a bunch of home flushing but if I lived at the beach and boated in salt I would be more annoyed at the flush port location.

At one time I thought about putting a flush port on the sides of the rear passenger leg area (not sure what to call it :D). Basically imagine putting the flush ports where the red arrows are. Maybe a little further foward so the engine hatch can open without hitting the hose or Salt Away dispenser..

@Coheeba This is what I do - with the Saltaway kit and a little 5" extension. I really don't mind wherever they place the flush ports. I can open/close the valve on the Saltaway attachment, or disconnect the quick connector at the flush port, or turn the water hose valve, it all works. Seems super convenient, and I'm not sure I need those flush ports moved as I can reach anywhere - from inside or outside the cockpit.
And yes, I can pop the seat cushions up and open the engine hatch while flushing, no issues.
